06-17-05 This BobCast is gone but there's a new on each friday! Have a great weekend! Bob 06-16-05 Tuesday night I moved my mattress from my bedroom to my living room. The heat was so bad, I wanted to be close to my air conditioner. CUT TO: Wednesday night; heatwave is gone (finally) and I had plans to put the mattress back BUT at some point, I laid down for a second. The next thing I knew, it was 4 AM. So, there's your update...damn. All my best, Bob 06-15-05 I'm taking a diary night off to work on my Bobcast for Friday. Have a great day...talk to you tomorrow. Best, Bob 06-14-05 Not Guilty, no, I'm serious, ha ha! The good news for Michael Jackson is he's Not Guilty...the bad news? Well, he's still Michael Jackson. I can't believe I'm saying this but it was the right call. The grift was on and 20 million doesn't come as freely as it did back in '93. Did you see the woman releasing white doves for every 'not guilty' verdict? I wish I would have thought of that. Fox 5 News opened their ten o'clock broadcast with this gem: "Well, he 'Beat it'" Turns out, working in news isn't so hard after all. My other big story (it was also Fox's) is the heat. Holy crap, I've been sweating for the past week. Too much information? Eh, that's it for today. Have a good one. Best, Bob 06-13-05 The power of bobborden.com isn't what I thought it was. After a full week of heavy advertising, I don't think one person that saw Memphis Mike & The Legendary Tremblers (yesterday at Scotland Yard in Hoboken) came because of my ads. My friend Tiffany even bailed on me! But thank goodness for the power of music! Memphis Mike had them coming off the streets in droves. Memphis Mike & The Legendary Tremblers at Scotland Yard in Hoboken They got to town around 3 PM and came by my crib. I've never had so many people here at once (five total). It was crazy! We went on a walking tour after hanging and parted ways around 5 PM. I headed back to get a shower and grab a slice. The gig started at 8 and it was fantastic. Great music and the crowd got into it, which made things even better. And on a side note, my beer was incredibly cold, Mmmmmmmm, cold beer. Memphis had a friend from Pittsburgh/Philly helping out the band, Kevin. He's an interesting guy, he's a sound guy and knew what the heck he was doing. Shoutout to Kevin The gig was over around 11 PM, I helped load up the van and then we parted ways. Great night! Sweet gig! As for the rest of my weekend, eh. Friday, I had a fun day on the job. I had some Mexican food for dinner that night...YAWN! Saturday it was crazy humid! I watched 28 Days Later with my air conditioning on - 'heat' and I don't mix well. I finally left my apartment around 4 PM to do my laundry...just in time for a MAJOR downpour. But what can you do? It was actually good because there weren't a lot of people. I hit A & P after that, when I got home I put in a DVD (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) and called it a night. Oh, that's a good movie! So, that's it. Sunday was the best part of my weekend, thanks to Memphis Mike & The Legendary Tremblers. Have a safe trip back to the Motherland. Have a great day. Best, Bob 06-10-05 And now, the BobCast (It's a long one)! This Bobcast is no more...missed it? Tough. There's a new one every Friday. And don't forget about this: COME TO HOBOKEN THIS SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY! CLICK THIS! Also, Happy 44th Annv to my Aunt Sue and Uncle Ron! Have a great weekend! Best, Bob 06-09-05 Memphis Mike & The Legendary Tremblers PLUS Hoboken's Scotland Yard this Sunday EQUALS Happy people! What's up?! So just when I think I figured out my diary woes, Blogger, FINALLY writes me back. But they said it was on my server's side...my server is saying it's Blogger. All I know is that I'm stuck with a diary that I thought I left behind. Very annoying! The sad part is, I know it's something dumb that I did! Walter (friend/webmaster) will come to me one day and say, "You know, you forgot to update your Johnson code." Damn that Johnson code!!! I got a haircut last night. Excuse me for a second...YAWN! OK, I'm back. It's on the short side. I was close to shaving it all off but then I figured, I have enough things going against me, I don't want to stick out like a turd in a punch bowl. Not sure if I have anything else today. It's damn hot! As I'm writing this diary, I'm just out of range from my AC. It's hard to write while your sweating. I guess that's one of those life lessons I keep hearing about. Speaking of my air conditioning, I was thinking that I've had the same unit for the past 9 years. It hasn't let me down yet! And that's why I'm naming it: Bob's Person of the Week! Way to go Fedders model #A3X05F2A (not the correct model number)! Keep up the great work. That's it! Best, Bob 06-08-05 COME TO HOBOKEN THIS SUNDAY! LISTEN TO GREAT MUSIC! CLICK THIS! Hello. I was walking home last night and my celly (cell phone) blew up (rang) twice, that's a record for me! Friends were checking in. My friend Tiffany wanted to get a drink but it was too humid for me. When I told her that, she was not happy, ha ha! She said, "You know, we could go inside..." but I wouldn't hear it. To be honest, I just needed to chill out. Monday was a hard day that ended with me falling asleep on my sofa. Always fun to wake up at 6AM feeling like crap. So, I wanted to relax. She understood that explanation a little better. This hot weather is screwing up my ipod listening. I really enjoyed keeping it in my jacket. Now, I don't know what the hell to do? I don't want to carry it in my hand and I don't want to wear one of those stupid armbands. I think I'm stuck just listening to it on the bus until Fall. Is it just me or did this diary start to suck eggs? I blame it all on Blogger, I just feel out of sorts, going back to the old format. Hey, you know what's really not a good idea? You're driving from Steubenville, Ohio to Hoboken, New Jersey and you're hungry but instead of finding an established eatery (McDonald's, Wendy's), you instead decide to stop at a truck stop and order Chinese food. Sad to say, that's what I did on Sunday. I got it to go and ate it at one of those vending machine rest stops. It was gross! But something good did come out of it...While I was eating in my car (I was trying to keep my cats cool) I saw a young couple exit their car with blankets. They spread them out on the grass and just chilled. I thought that was VERY SMART. They recharged their batteries. Damn smart kids. All these years when I get tired on the road, I'd get a Coke or a candy bar. They kicked it up a notch by this 'resting' thing. And that's one to grow on. Stay beautiful, Bob 06-07-05 My brother is coming to Hoboken this weekend! The band he plays drums in, Memphis Mike & The Legendary Tremblers, are playing Scotland Yard this Sunday from 8PM to 11PM. I'll be there and I hope you can be there too! You can read/learn/listen about the band HERE. Hope to see you this Sunday. The 'Blogger' service that I've been using went south on me. I can't update anything...it was/is SO weird. I hate using a service where I can't ask someone for help. Their response to my e-mail(s) was 'Checkout our Help section,' Ha ha! Give me a break. I'm thinking about calling 'Help Me Howard' ha ha! ('Help Me Howard' is a local [NYC] segment on the 11 o'clock news, where a tough-as-nails newsman, in this case, Howard, kicks ass to get the consumer what he/she was promised.) So hang in there with me, I'll try to get it right or I'll just make this work for me again. If you were able to catch my Message Board Diary on Monday, I incorrectly reported that my appearance on Guiding Light airs today but as it turns out, it aired last week. Confusion all around but you saw the meat of it if you saw it on our show (Late Show). From 8:30 AM to 9:30 PM yesterday, all I did was work and sweat. Our office air conditioning busted. It was the worst! Now, keep in mind, for the guy that doesn't have AC at all, it may seem like I'm being a baby BUT, to be honest, I haven't worked a hard day (physical labor) in my life, ha ha! I NEED AC!!! I may sue the company, ha ha. On my walk home, it started pouring...I went for the umbrella but then just decided to let the rain wash the stress away. By the time I got home, I was soaked -- It was a good feeling. OK, that's it for me today. I need to relax after a tough day that didn't need to be tough. Word to your Mother. Have a great day. Best, Bob 06-06-05 Until I figure out my blogging problems, I'm going to use my old site...I may go back to this full time...I kind of miss it. Full update tomorrow. Best, Bob 04-05-05 BobBorden.com has a new look...FINALLY! I'm looking forward to this new Blog-type system. I hope you enjoy it. Sweet! Thank you Walter (friend/webmaster)! It doesn't get any better than walking home on a crisp spring night, listening to Anthrax on the old ipod. Damn, that's good music! Makes me want to move/beat the crap out of someone, ha ha. Ooooo, I just looked up Anthrax on the web and the original lineup is getting back together. I don't get it? They just put out a CD of retweeked classics with the new singer and it's great! Why go back to the old ways...$$$$, I'm guessing. Is anyone still reading this, ha ha. My faith in humanity was restored yesterday. I was walking in the hallway at work and I noticed co-worker/nice guy Steve, walking ahead of me. He threw a small piece of paper in the waste basket but missed. It landed behind the basket. I expected him just to keep walking, he didn't see me and it was just a small piece of paper. He reached down behind the garbage can, got the paper and threw it away. I looked at him and said, 'You know what, you just made my diary!' Steve, for going that extra mile, thinking of your co-workers and being a stand-up guy, I'm naming you the BOBBORDEN.COM PERSON OF THE WEEK! Bob's Person of the Week! (file photo) Way to go Steve -- tell your friends! Holy crap, my cat just fell off the TV! I got a new set a few months back, the old one had a flat top...the new one has quite the slant...Oh cats! OK, this is enough for a Tuesday and more than enough for the new blog thing. That's it! Have a great day! Best, Bob 04-04-05 OK, remember 'that great thing' I was going to do on Friday? Well, it fell through. My friends and I were going to celebrate my friend Jay's birthday but Jay got sick. Instead of dinner and a midnight movie, I had Mexican food and watched a DVD. BUT something somewhat exciting did happen. I discovered a new juice, straight from Mexico, I give you: BOING! Isn't that a great name for a juice drink? It was pretty good too, it was mango, mmmmmmm, mango. And that was Friday! Boing! Saturday I woke up around 10:00. The rain was coming down and I had no desire to leave the apartment or take a bath for that matter. It was; computer, TV, video games -- all day! It was pretty good. My friend Kipley was screening his movie at 8:00 so I got a shower around 7:00. I wasn't going to go (as is the norm with me) but I pushed myself and actually made it out the door. I got there, met up with Kipley and Karen (Kipley's wife) -- my friend Tiffany (Kipley's sister) was there too. The flick was pretty good. It was shot well and most of the acting was pretty good but it fell short in the script. But what can you do, hey, I never made a 90-minute film. Not a lot of people can say that. Don't give up Kipley! After the flick, Tiffany and I walked across the street to eat some Indian food. Oh, it was very good. We haven't hung out for a while but we didn't miss a beat. We went to my place and talked most of the night. I didn't get to bed until 4 AM...5 AM with the time change, ha ha. It was a good night. Sunday I woke up at 1:00. I had to do my stupid laundry but was not in the mood. I sucked it up and headed over to the Laundry Depot in Jersey City. It was pretty painless and I was glad to get it done. I walked to Target and then to the A & P. I was back by 5 and I just chilled the rest of the night. So, that's it. What a short weekend but fun. Have a good one. My best, Bob NEW BONUS FEATURE, I call it: SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT, here we go...Saturday night, I'm talking to Karen (Kipley's wife) and we hit a quiet spot in the conversation and then she says, "So how are the cats?" It's not a pet peeve that I get asked that, I just always think it's an interesting question...I'm not 100% sure why I think that. Maybe I think it's interesting because I don't have enough going on in my life, that someone has to ask about my cats? But maybe the cats are part of my life? Later in the evening, Tiffany asked the same thing! I don't know...SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT. 04-01-05 Man, the bus was packed last night. I didn't mind it too much until 'cologne guy' sat in front of me. Its happened to me before -- it's just the worst. I think it was 'CK one.' CK None! I was thinking the whole ride back, how can I describe that smell? It smells like an orange but sweeter. Then it hit me, if an orange was gay (homosexual(?)), that's what it smells like! This guy's walking around, smelling like a gay orange. It was so bad it clogged up one of my nostrils. Why are people so dumb and unaware of the dumb things they do?! (Too harsh?) Ha ha, the whole bus ride, to try and remember this bit for my diary, I kept saying to myself, 'CK One, gay orange, CK One, gay orange' -- ha ha! I thought about getting one of those voice recorders but then I thought, I'd have to say out loud, 'CK One, gay orange,' ha ha ha! I got off the bus on 6th street and could see these giant search lights in the sky. They weren't too far away, so I walked down to check it out. I was thinking it was a bar. There's a bar on almost every corner in Hoboken, why not another one? I get to 3rd and, drum roll please...it was a bar. I went into the record store instead. I didn't buy anything, I wasn't really sure what I was doing. I sent in my taxes yesterday morning. I was surprised by how little money I make. It was a sad way to start the day. I'm going to buy lottery tickets with my refund, kidding. That lottery is a sweet deal. OK, I've run out of things to say. I have something fun planned for tonight. To find out what I'm doing, you'll have to check back on Monday. (In 'The biz,' that's what's known as a 'TEASER' -- TELL YOUR FRIENDS) THAT'S IT! Have a great weekend...it's going to rain here this weekend, that was a newsflash, believe it or not. I don't want to know the weekend is already going to suck, I don't need a newsflash for that! It's depressing. Have a good one -- Best, Bob |
