9-30-03 I didn't feel like going home last night after work. That's an unusual feeling for me. I hung out in Jay and Walter's office and then left work around 8. I took the train instead of the bus. And instead of buying a snack, I bought a CD. Blind Melon's 24-bit digitally remastered, Classic Remasters was only $9.99 at Sam Goody. I always like them and decided to buy it. Shannon Hoon had such a unique/great voice. Blind Melon Anyway, it's a really good collection. I don't know what 24-bit technology does but it sounds pretty good. I also enjoy their CD, Soup. After the record store, I walked home and jumped into the shower. A shower at night -- how luxurious of me. I wish I had a tub, I'd be in that bastard every five seconds. I'm getting a video camera today! I've been holding off forever but now's a good time to buy. For the past 3 or 4 years I've made Christmas CDs for my friends but this year I want to bring it up a notch and put out a DVD. I went through all my old VHS-C footage on Sunday and let me just say, getting a DVD out of that seems pretty thin. So, I need to start shooting stuff pronto. I think I can pull it off but right now, I have more questions than answers. I like the new Outkast CD. Those guys are SO talented. And my apologies to Rick for not writing him back on this subject. No excuses, I dropped the ball. I Tivoed their appearance on Late Show Friday and I must have played it back 5 or 6 times already. So entertaining. Like it or not, that's all I have to talk about today. Stay beautiful, Bob 9-29-03 Friday night I picked up a lovely burrito and settled in for an exciting night of Television. If that opening line seems boring, you may want to stop reading now and get on with your day because I don't think it's going to get much better. Saturday I woke up around 11:30. That's some sweet sleeping-in time. I watched a Steve McQueen film Tivo recorded for me, Love with the Proper Stranger. Steve played a musician that knocked up Natalie Wood. It was pretty awful. Steve and Natalie seemed like they were second generation Italian-Americans but had no trace of accents and Steve had blond hair, OK Hollywood! It seemed like one of those big Hollywood pictures, big studio type of stuff - I don't know, I was half watching. Around 5 o'clock I loaded up my laundry and decided to drive to Nutley. But I forgot that they closed one of the bridges at the end of town and I didn't want to get stuck in traffic. I did my laundry at a laundry mat I haven't been to in a long time. It was pretty uneventful stuff. I drove around Hoboken for a little bit after that. Then I walked around and bought my dinner at a new place. I'm a creature of habit so that's kind of a big deal. The nice people even thanked me for buying my food there, I like that - I got a Philly cheese steak and a salad. Saturday night I started to watch Solaris but I turned it off because it was late. I flipped around the tube and then hit the sack. Sunday I woke up again at 11:30. I watched Face the Nation and then watched football for the rest of the day. The weather was so dark; I didn't feel like going for a drive. Around 6:30, I stepped out of my cave to get some dinner. Chinese was on the menu for me. On my way I ran into my friends Kipley and Karen. They were going to pick up some burritos. They got the idea from my website, how do you like that? I should get a cut of the action from the burrito place. I hope they had a good burrito experience. When I ran into to them, I could barley carry on a conversation - too much time inside. Too much football. I can't wait until Monday morning to check out how my Fantasy Football team did. I did OK but I think my friend Jeff did better. Who knew Randy Moss would blow up like he did? That's fantasy football for ya. And that's my diary for Monday. Have a great week. Always, Bob 9-26-03 Are you down with Outkast? They're on the Friday show and damn if they're not good! They put out a double CD. Big Boi is one CD and Andre 3000 is on the other CD. That's a bold move. I may purchase that tonight. I know you know Ms. Jackson! Their CD, Stankonia, was released in 2000. They have a song on that CD called B.O.B., that stands for Bombs over Baghdad. I'd have to say that they're the only artists that psychically predicted the war on Iraq. I don't have any proof; it's in the theory stage right now. My think tank is investigating as we speak. Wait, I just read the lyrics, it has nothing to do with war. Sorry. Hey, I had another Caesar salad for dinner last night. I'M SORRY; I HAVEN'T HAD A VERY EXICTING WEEK!!!!!! I'm hearing crazy buzz on Kill Bill. That's one film I'm looking forward to seeing. I wish they wouldn't have split the film into two parts, seems like a bad idea. I'm sure they'll make hundreds of different DVD versions from this stunt. Remember when the studio's used to put out epic films? Giant, The Great Escape, Lawrence of Arabia - Tron? I blame the drive to split the film on this crazy MTV generation! The kids can only pay attention for two minutes at a time -- Sure, you have your Road Rules but at what cost? AT WHAT COST! Wait, I think I'm the MTV generation. Darn. I'm going to CHILL out this weekend. Clean my apartment, see what's not working on my car, do my laundry and maybe have an adventure or two. And I'm really looking forward to sleeping in and watching football on Sunday. My fantasy football team is looking TIGHT! I really have to see Lost in Translation. That's getting MAD buzz. And I keep forgetting to buy garbage bags. All week long, I've been bagless. Wednesday I threw out my trash in the plastic wrap that my bulk paper towels were packaged in. That's another thing, I'll never buy bulk paper towels again. For months, I've been dancing around this mammoth collection paper towels. I'm finally down to the last roll. OK, that's it! Play Mega Millions tonight; it's up to 126 MILLION dollars. You win, kick a brother a few bucks. Stay Beautiful, Bob Don't pull that thang out unless you plan to bang / Bombs over Bagdad, yeah / Don't even bang unless you plan to hit something / Bombs over Bagdad, yeah (Repeat) Outkast 9-25-03 I had a salad for dinner last night. A Caesar salad with chicken, I have to say, I was pretty satisfied. I was walking through the bus station yesterday and I saw that the lotto was up from 100 million to 130 million. It really pissed me off because I didn't even get the chance to check my tickets! I'm going to win that lottery if it's the last thing I ever do! I'd like to try one of those Quiznos subs. Their ads creep me out but their sandwiches make me hungry. A toasted sub, that isn't so hard - are you listening SUBWAY?! That's funny -- I'm taunting Subway. I stopped by my friend Tiffany's place last night. She just got a second cat and was going to put the cats in the same room for the first time. I was on hand to witness the blood shed. Kidding, sort of. We put the cats down and sure enough, they went at each other. Tiffany separated them again and will try another day but I say now or never. Cats. Hey, they found another one of those land fishes, this time in Wisconsin. That's not a good thing because the fish has no natural predator. How'd a damn fish from China get over here anyway, we don't have enough problems now we have to worry about a walking fish?! Makes Bob angry. Ha ha. Lottery, subs, cats and fish - yep, that's all I got! All my best, Bob 9-24-03 Hello. I can honestly say I don't have anything to write about today. I stayed late at work last night and that makes for quite the boring diary. So can that be it? No, here we go -- Hey, I finished 2nd in my fantasy football league this week. I'm doing pretty good but I have a feeling my days are numbered. Bye weeks, injured players and lack of funds all see to be coming to a head for my young upstarts. But I'll never give up, NEVER! Hey, have you tried the new Dentyne FIRE gum? Mmmmm, gum Don't let the "FIRE" label fool you, it's more like a strong cinnamon and it's sugar free! Artifically flavored, of course. I haven't had a cinnamon roll in a while. The last cinnamon roll I had was at Ikea, they know how to make affordable furniture and tasty treats. I think I'll go to Ikea this weekend, yeah, Ikea. They have a great AS-IS section. That's the dream, to stop buying other people's rejects. I guess I should say 'one of the dreams', the other being the lottery. Oh the lottery. This paragraph was brought to you by Ikea, tell your friends. OK, that's it! All my best, Bob 9-23-03 I was standing at the bus stop yesterday. I saw a man get in his car, cell phone in hand; he pulls out and hits a truck that was driving by. There was no damage but it made an ugly plastic on plastic sound. The people got out and then rode off. No point to this story really, just something that seems more common these days. I guess? I was really tired yesterday. Could have been the painting or the traffic from Sunday. The real reason? I think a jellyfish may have stung me. I'm not positive but after the ocean I noticed a red blotch on my hand. That'd be kind of cool if a jellyfish did sting me. I'm not sure why it's cool but if nothing else, it'd be good way to start a conversation with a girl. "Hey, you ever been stung by a jellyfish?" See what I'm saying? I open with that and I'm solid gold. I'm guessing that if a jellyfish really got me, I'd know it. The blotch is almost gone but it is sore, interesting. Did I mention that I could have gone to the Emmy awards this past weekend? Actually, I was going to go but my plans fell through. I was going to crash on a friend's sofa but he made other plans. I still could have stayed at his place but half the fun of going out there is going out and doing the whole LA thing. The downside of that trip is taking the redeye back to NY. You get to the airport at 7am and then have to go to work, yuk. I did that once or twice, that was more than enough. Years and years ago when I was working in the mailroom I did the redeye thing and had to do the mail with no sleep and no bath, I was in misery. I remember sitting in the mailroom banging my head on the desk. What's my point to this paragraph? I don't know. Two paragraphs in today's diary that I'm clueless about, odd. Time for a new segment to bobborden.com, I call it Bob of Bobborden.com Reminds His Readers to Play The Big Game Tonight As It's Up to Over 100 Million Dollars! Here we go: Hey, play the lottery tonight! And that was Bob of Bobborden.com Reminds His Readers to Play The Big Game Tonight As It's Up to Over 100 Million Dollars! -Tell your friends. I really hope you win. I also hope you remember who reminded you to play! Just kick me $500,000, that's all I need. I leave you today with my top three films from one of my favorite actors, Warren Oates: 1. Two-Lane Blacktop 2. Stripes 3. The Wild Bunch That's it. Have a great day. Stay beautiful, Bob 9-22-03 Great weekend? You bet. My house painting services were needed in The Hamptons, that's right, The Hamptons - What, you never heard of The Hamptons? -- Playground of the rich and famous? Anyway, Walter, "Sally" and myself headed out there Thursday night. I drove my Jeep and they drove their car. I could have gone with them but I like the freedom of driving, plus I was able to load up some of their stuff. It was beneficial to all. My Jeep has been acting up again, it's fickle, 20 years of sitting in a garage did more harm than good. When you start your car, you turn the key and it starts. I turn my key and get nothing. Then I have to get under the hood to hotwire it. I think my radio may be the cause, I unplugged it and that seems to have done the trick. But I won't know until next weekend. One "problem" of unhooking the radio? I turned on my headlights last night and the buzzer that rings when you leave the car with your lights on came on and stayed on - for about 2 solid hours. But that will be an easy fix because as soon as I have the time to find that buzzer, its days are numbered. Back to The Hamptons, that's right, The, oh nevermind. We painted all weekend, there's not much to tell. We had a great dinner Saturday night. Thanks to Walter and "Sally" for hooking me up. I have very lovely friends. Sunday we went to the beach. September 21st and my large butt was riding the waves. That's some sweet living! Sunday night, traffic. We left at 5 and I got back to Hoboken at 9:14. It's only 61 miles away but the traffic. There was traffic leaving The Hamptons, traffic coming into the city and traffic entering the Lincoln tunnel. Bumper to bumper and "BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ", THE WHOLE TIME!!!!!! I felt like driving the truck into a brick wall. Damn good weekend. OK, that's all I have. Have a great day! Always, Me 9-18-03 I think the top story today would have to be the hurricane. I don't know if I ever wrote about this but I fancy myself quite the storm chaser. After years of tracking, studying and learning about storms, I have a pretty good idea what things will look like when the hurricane hits land: Hurricane Isabel Such a long way to go for that, oh, I'm exhausted. Hey, it's Thursday! My weekend is going to be off the hizzle, shiz nap! It's always nice to build things up in my mind. Otherwise I'd be writing about my boring plans to watch TV in my underwear this weekend. With the hizzle thing, I leave all my options open. I went to the A & P last night. If felt kind of nice to do my shopping at night. It felt like I was real person there for a little while -- just and ordinary Joe, punching the time clock, picking up something to eat. OK, I think that's all I have for today. I'm taking Friday off so I won't have a new diary up until Monday, FYI. Have a great weekend! Stay beautiful, Bob 9-17-03 I've decided to devote my whole life to health and fitness. But first, let me tell you about the tasty dinner I ate last night. Chicken Pad Thai, mmmmmmmm. I love those noodles. I wonder when I'm really going to get my act together and stop running from eating better. Crap, I forgot to play the lottery last night. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH! Priorities Bob, priorities. I hope my friend Pam wins instead. Maybe she'll kick me a few bones? That'd be nice. I got something pretty funny in the mail last week that I just noticed today. The Post Office sent me a brochure on identity theft. Serious subject? You bet. The photo on the front of the brochure is a driver's license and someone (the criminal) is pasting his photo over the photo on the license, thus stealing someone's identity. Look at the photo: Identity theft bad, very bad Look at that photo! The criminal found the absolute angriest photo of himself, that's red flag number one. Red flag number two and I don't know if you can tell from my photo, the criminal is pasting his photo over a woman's photo! He's pissed and he's trying to pass himself off as Mary Johnson. "Yeah, I'm Mary Johnson, just give me the damn credit card!" I thought it was funny. I'm watching the 'Remembering John Ritter' special as I'm writing this, so sad. I don't have anything else today. Does anyone know anything about GPS? How do they work? I was thinking about carrying around one of those things so you'd be able to track me 24/7. I told this to my bosses, Justin and Eric, and Eric said, "Who would want to track you, you only go to three places; home, work and Stiletto's (strip club)" - I thought that was pretty funny. For the record, I haven't been to a strip club in about 2 or 3 years. But when I went, man, good times. That's it! Have a great day! Stay gold, Bob My favorite Pat Benatar song is 'Shadows of the Night' -- Now you know 9-16-03 I saw a baby on the subway yesterday morning that was so cute, I had a sudden urge to steal it. OK, that's not true, I saw the cute kid and then I thought of that funny line and said to myself, hey, that's a great opening line for my diary. So, there you go. The humidity is back and I'm not happy about it. And there's a hurricane days away from destroying the eastern seaboard, not to mention, putting a crimp in my weekend. I need some good news and I need it now! I spent way too much time alone this weekend; it was hard for me to communicate with people yesterday. I have to start forcing myself to have fun. Whatever 'having fun' means. Hey, I did OK this week in my fantasy football league. I finished #2, down from last week's #1 spot. I'm still in it to win it! After work last night, Walter, Jay and I headed down to the Best Buy just for the heck of it. I picked up a $5 Star Wars preview disc for the GameCube. I didn't buy it for the preview game; I bought it for the classic arcade Star Wars game! It's awesome! Anyway, we were looking around and I discovered something wonderful, they call it: 12 months, same as cash. This opens up a whole new world to me. I'm getting a plasma TV for my bathroom. Oh, that'd be so awesome! I think that's all I have today. Kind of quiet on my message board yesterday, what's going on? Stay beautiful, Bob J Lo, I'm having trouble getting the bus fare to LA together, call me. 9-15-03 I like those Coors Light commercials with Kid Rock. He knows how to have fun; you know what I'm saying? Holy crap! did I have a boring weekend. Friday night I enjoyed a lovely burrito for dinner and watched Mad Max. Saturday I woke up around 9, it was dark/gloomy and raining -- SO depressing. I watched a movie, can't remember which one, then I gathered up my laundry and walked up the street. I did my laundry and watched a crazy college game, three overtimes. Later, I picked up some chicken and watched The Magnificent Seven. Sunday the sun came out. I watched football, all day long. I was following my fantasy football team. It's so exciting! I don't know how I did this week but it seemed like a lot of my guys had great Sundays. At 7, I had to walk over to a bookstore for a movie screening. Kipley Wentz, my friend Tiffany's brother, was showing his movie. I was supposed to be over at Tiffany's at 6 but I was SO out of it socially, I just couldn't get it together. Staying indoors for two days was not such a great plan after all. The film was good but the chair was a new experience in pain. I was glad I went. So that was about it for my weekend. I know, "YAWN", but you wouldn't want me to lie. Liars are the worst! Diary bonus story: I've had my eye on a motorcycle on Ebay all week. The price was right and the bike was soooo sexy. It was an Italian bike, a Moto Guzzi. Not Bob's motorcycle It's an automatic bike, no shifting! Crazy. This was on my mind so much that Friday night I had a dream that I was riding a motorcycle and my shoe got sucked into the chain drive. I was ok but my shoe was turned into a sandal. Anyway, the bidding was too high (I'm very poor) and the motorcycle dream is still a dream. Half the fun of motorcycle ownership for me would have been saying, "Moto Guzzi". "Yes, that's my Moto Guzzi." Oh, you ride a Moto Guzzi too?" SEE HOW COOL THAT SOUNDS! Damn. That's it! Have a great day. Stay gold, Bob J Lo, I'm on the next bus to LA baby, everything's going to be OK. 9-12-03 Hello and welcome to bobborden.com! I have a lot to talk about today, not really. The weekend is now and the weekend is going to be crazy! I don't have any plans. I'm just going to relax around the old homestead. This Tivo thing is fantastic! It was an easy installation; I had it up and running in about 35/45 minutes. The first thing I recorded was my appearance on the show Wednesday night. The second thing I recorded was The Adventures of Pete and Pete. I always enjoyed that show, it's for kids but it's very well done. I have a lot more to play around with before I'm a Tivo expert. I also have to rearrange my system as I had a lot of unnecessary wires. Maybe it's time to rearrange my living room? In the 8 years in that apartment, I must have had that sofa in every corner. Oh the stories that sofa could tell. Time for a new segment to bobborden.com, I call it: Guess the Item and Win a Sacagawea Dollar! Here's the item: Guess this item, win a Sacagawea Dollar The first person on my message board with the correct guess, wins! Thanks for playing Guess the Item and Win a Sacagawea Dollar - tell your friends. I don't have anything else to add today other than watch the Late Show tonight, it's pretty cool. Have a great weekend! Stay gold, Bob 9-11-03 Great bobborden.com news! My Tivo has arrived! Bob + Tivo = New life I'm in the figuring it out stage or as I call it, "the honeymoon stage". So I truly don't know how great it is. I'll keep you posted. So, it's September 11th but I guess this "anniversary" will happen for the rest of my life, I better get used to it. Did you see the Osama video that was released yesterday? The guy makes more videos than Prince! Crazy bastard. Osama, not Prince. Prince is a musical genius. In other news, I was on the Late Show last night! We aired the Hollywood edition of The Tony Mendez show that I was lucky enough to be a guest on, pretty cool. It's still up on the Late Show site; if you missed the show last night, check it out. I like being on TV. I'd love to write more but I have a Tivo to set up. Tivo setup or write more in the old diary? Hmmmmmm, let me think, what's the right thing to do? Have a great day! God Bless America. 9-10-03 I was going to start today's diary off with a bang but now I can't remember what I was going to talk about. I hate when that happens! Well, get ready for a crappy diary, ha ha. I have to starting making an outline for these things now. I played the lottery again last night. It's always good to play a few more dollars if you have the time. I think that my playing the lottery isn't newsworthy. I should only write about the lottery when I don't play. There, a new rule for bobborden.com and myself. Did you see the Late Show last night? They did a piece called May We See Your Digital Photos Please? Now it's time for a new feature to bobborden.com, I call it: Behind the Scenes Stuff You Never Read About in Your Lousy Hollywood Rags, here we go. My digital camera was used to rehearse that bit of comedy. Here's a photo someone took while the camera was out of my hands: Bob didn't take this photo Damn, that's too bad. DO NOT ask me to reveal who took that photo; the conspiracy goes all the way to the top. OK, that was Behind the Scenes Stuff You Never Read About in Your Lousy Hollywood Rags - tell your friends. I've been toying around with, Mom don't kill me, getting a motorcycle. It's that time of year when the weather is sooooo perfect; it just makes me want to ride. Financially, I can't justify it so motorcycle riding is still something I can only dream about. It's fun thinking about things that I can't afford to do, here's a short list: I can't go to Paris this weekend, buy a house, ride a motorcycle, marry a hot Hollywood actress (come 'on, you know that takes money), sleep in tomorrow, etc. That's it. I leave you today with something to think about. Think about this: Couscous is the new rice. Heavy s#*t, for heavy times. Have a great day! My diary is better than your diary, Bob 9-09-03 It was such a lovely evening last night. Crisp, zero humidity, blah, blah, blah. I finished first in my fantasy football league! Such a surprise but oh so very, very sweet. My league is made up of my friend Jeff, his family and two of Jeff's "Hollywood" friends. "Hollywood", meaning two grown men that choose to live together, you know what I'm saying. Anywho, they're all about competition and football. There were a lot of angry people yesterday because of my win. Yesterday may have been the best day of my life. Honestly, it's not that hard, I mean, just pick good players. People always try to make things harder than they actually are. You ever heard of the group, Guided by Voices? I have one of their CDs, Isolation Drills and it's darn good. Remember that the next time you pass the local recordtown. Sad news about Warren Zevon yesterday. He did leave some great music behind. I haven't picked up his last CD, The Wind, yet but that's next on my list. I hear it's pretty good. I don't know what else I have to talk about today? I played the lotto last night. I'm going to win that damn lottery some day. I hope it's soon. That's it. I'm going to watch some TV. Stay beautiful, Bob 9-08-03 Hello. Let's get to the weekend. Friday night, I bought a burrito and watched the film Wings of Desire. I borrowed it from my friend Jay but what Jay neglected to tell me was the film was subtitled. Not that I don't like foreign films, I do, I was just hoping for a nice, English, black and white film. The film turned out to be cool but it left me with more questions than answers. And if you know me, you know I need answers. Saturday, Walter, "Sally" and myself spent the day in the Hamptons -- that was not a misprint, the Hamptons. Bob was here Otherwise know as the playground for the rich and famous. We had a fun day! The only mistake I made was not changing into my bathing suit when I was playing chicken with the ocean. Walter was in the same situation. The sea was all crazy because of various hurricanes. The ocean was so beautiful. We had to change into our bathing suits for the drive home. Yuk. My suit is about the most uncomfortable thing I've ever worn. We even ate dinner in our suits. We were in Chili's with neon blue bathing suits, I felt like a turd in a punchbowl. but after a few minutes I didn't feel as out of place as I thought. I was surprised by people that actually looked worse than us. Would it kill you to wear a shirt with sleeves?! I had the chicken and rib combo. We got back to the city after some crazy traffic and I took the Path train home. I like the Hamptons. Sunday I woke up tired! "Sally" was right; running on the beach tends to make you sleepy. I gathered up my laundry and walked up to the laundry mat. After that I drove to the A & P. I was going to go home after that and watch football but it was so nice out I decided to go for a ride. I drove up the river and turned around. Not much of a drive but enough for this area. After that I walked around the Monroe Center for the Arts in Hoboken. It's an artists' community and the first Sunday of every month it's open to the public to check it out. It was cool checking out people's passions: Painting, photography, pottery, jewelry and antiques. I talked to some nice guys that make rock 'n' roll paintings. It was pretty cool. I bought an antique paper stamper, it's from some wood worker's union, it's so cool. I walked back to my house and I was in for the night. Football and apartment cleaning is how I ended this weekend. I wonder how I'll do in my fantasy football league? I just looked at my team to see what they did and I'm guessing my team didn't do so great. Oh well, I have a lot of weeks to improve. That's it for Monday. Have a great day! Always, Bob 9-05-03 I just heard some great news on CNN. McDonalds is coming out with an adult Happy Meal -- My prayers have been answered! Why should those bratty kids have all the fun!? No more will I have to look on in tears as some kid plays with his new Hulk figurine. My time is now! My weekend is shaping up quite nicely. Actually, it isn't. Right now all I have penciled in for Sunday is me on the sofa in my underwear, watching a game that I only 75% understand, football. It's sad that I have to pencil in things to do with myself but that's the wall that I have in place. Maybe I'm a jerk around myself and don't want me around all the time. OK, this paragraph started out a little cute and I was hoping to get it to the funny level but now I don't know how to get out of it. Hey, LOOK OVER THERE; IT'S A GIANT BIRD! Giant bird = sneaky divisionary tactic Bob, 1; bobborden.com diary readers, 0. I'm planning on dropping off my laundry again this weekend. I'd rather have the two hours that not doing my own laundry saves me rather than the money it will cost me to have the laundry done. I'm using a lot of unnecessary words in today's diary. Consider it a bonus. Ah, forget what I just said, I think I'll do my laundry myself. I got home late (12:00) last night. I was playing a friendly game of Texas Hold 'em with friends. I played for about an hour and left $10 up. That's some sweet cash. Maybe I'll fly to Rio this weekend, ha ha. An hour of my life for $10 - I'd have done better by looking for dimes and nickels on the sidewalk. But I had fun. I think that's it for Friday. Have a great weekend! Stay beautiful, Bob 9-04-03 I bought the new Prince DVD, Prince Live at the Aladdin Las Vegas, and watched it last night. It was incredible. He only played a few songs that I knew, the rest was newer stuff. But the band was so tight and Prince is SO talented -- it made for a great evening. PRINCE I love a good DVD purchase. Get that DVD if you have the chance. The total of people that touched my hair this week has gone from 2 (Steve, Randi) to 3, thanks to Chris. But Chris touching my hair seems more like a copycat crime rather than a freakish, impulsive action. But another guy touching my locks in the span of a few days is just too much to ignore so I think I have to count it. I've been overtaxing my brain over my weight loss issues and I finally think I came to a sensible conclusion. Without getting into exact figures, my body weight for my body frame is totally out of whack. So, I'm going to just get taller. If I were taller, I'd be gold. I'm looking into various spine-stretching machines and several painful operations to lengthen my legs. I'll keep you posted. The weather is still crazy. I haven't seen the sun since Sunday. My beautiful base that I've been working on all summer is quickly fading away. I may have to tan from a bottle. That goes against everything I believe in. Back to the Prince DVD, he played a little bit of a song from the Diamonds and Pearls CD, Money Don't Matter 2 Night, which I never listened to before. And just from that small "sample" he played, it made me want to hear the whole song. My friend Walter downloaded it from the Apple thing and I must have listened to it about 25 times yesterday -- so lovely, very melodic. I'm thinking that's all I have to talk about today. It's Thursday, the weekend is coming up, Blah, blah, blah - yep, I got nothing else. Have a great day! All my best, Bob 9-03-03 Hey, it's Wednesday already. How did that happen? I'm at a loss for words. When I was back in Ohio looking through my old cassettes, I noticed something kind of funny. I had not one, not two but three cassettes by rapper, Kool Moe Dee. How ya Like Me Now? I'm not sure what I was thinking back then. I guess I was hoping that he would build on his 'How ya Like Me Now' fame. I don't think he ever did. I wonder if there's a Kool Moe Dee doll? Rap's crazy in that it's a young man's game. There aren't a lot of older rappers out there. Jay-z is going to retire. The Beastie Boys are probably the only ones still going strong from the early rappers. It's interesting, don't you think? I'm still thinking about this whole personalized license plate thing. I'm having doubts. I bought the Tivo, maybe I don't need the plate. Maybe my plate should say 'Tivo'. Ha ha. I think I may pass on the plate. Crazy day at work yesterday, I think the weather is making everybody nuts. It's cold back east. I woke up to a chilly 60 degrees yesterday. I had to wear a light jacket to work. It's raining and dark out. It better clear up by this weekend. Because my weekend is going to be off the hook! Damn, I just heard on the radio that it's going to rain straight through to Sunday. That's a downer. Now what do I have to look forward to? Hey I think football kicks off this week. That reminds me, I have to get my fantasy football team in proper working order. That's going to be an all night affair as I'm not sports literate. But I have been following the injuries and all the shootings. Oh crap, the first game's tomorrow. I have a lot of homework to do. It's very possible that I cut my hair too short this time around. Two "may I feel your head" requests on Monday and yesterday our Building Engineer, George Clarke, told me that I'm ready for the military. I had a crew cut before and nobody said a damn thing. I don't get it? I think it goes without saying that my plans to get a full body tattoo are out. Who needs the attention? I almost got a tattoo of Bruce Lee once. I was on vacation in Spain with friends, it was going to be a spur of the moment thing but the artist was out to lunch. It was probably for the best, as you don't see too many out of shape fat guys with tattoos of Master Lee on their arms. But you do see a lot of fat people with Tasmanian Devil tattoos, I still can't figure out why? Did Looney Toons really have that deep of an impact on your life? Dumb asses. I think that's enough for a Wednesday. Stay beautiful, Bob 9-02-03 You say, "hello", I say, "hell no". What rap song is that from? There are "WEEKENDS!" and then there weekends. I had a "weekend". My own fault? Probably. But I choose to blame it on society. Friday night I picked up a burrito and sat down to watch my $12.99 DVD purchase from Wal-Mart, Minority Report. For $12.99 I was expecting the DVD case to be filled with sand, ha ha. To my surprise, there were actual DVDs inside. Holy crap was that a good movie! I missed it the theatres. Damn, damn good. And ladies, Tom Cruise has never been sexier. Saturday I woke up around 11:00. I really had a hard time getting going. I watched some car shows, listen to music and then gathered up my clothes for the laundry. I didn't feel like driving to the Nutley laundry so I walked my clothes up the street, the time was 3:30. I get there and the laundry lady is all over me, "last wash was a half hour ago." OK, relax sweets. It was raining and the thought of walking back with unwashed clothes didn't do anything for me. I said screw it, let them wash it. I headed back home and planted my fat ass in front of the tube until I was hungry for dinner. Over my vacation I purchased one of those Brita filter water pitchers. Well, the damn thing has changed my life. I drink water now. I got hungry and got a chicken ceasar salad from Boston Market. I watched Insomnia on HBO. Another good film that missed in the theaters. I played some games and then Natural Born Killers was playing on HBO. I don't care for that film but I got sucked in. I fell asleep halfway through. Sunday it was a beautiful day. I got in the car and drove to a nearby mall. I got a nice haircut. The lady busted out the straight razor on me. That thing's intimidating! But I didn't flinch. Bob got a haircut (YAWN!) Nothing's better than getting a good haircut. Sadly, I really mean that, ha ha. I stopped by Best Buy and was dangerously close to buying a Tivo. I went to the A & P to buy a steak for dinner, picked up my laundry and I was in for the night. Labor Day I woke up a little later than I planned. It was kind of a big deal at the time because the busses were running on a holiday schedule, kind of a pain. Past Labor Days I drove into the city but I didn't feel the need. I walked to the Path train and within no time, I was in the city. Did I forget to mention that I work on Labor Day? I don't mind at all as I had a lot of time off this summer. Coming in on Labor Day is really kind of cool. We rope off 53rd Street and have a barbecue. Speaking of the barbecue, I saw a guy wearing a bobborden.com t-shirt out there. It was Mark (Marc?) who is a sometime contributor to my message board. That was cool. He was trying to get tickets to the show but I don't think he had any luck. I wish I could get tickets but I can't. Later that day during a lull, I broke down and ordered a Tivo. I found a great price online and just said screw it -- you only live once. I can't wait to get it. After work I stopped by to see my friend Tiffany's new cat. She adopted it from a shelter. These pet adoptions are pretty serious. But she made the cut and got her cat. Nice cat too. I'm pretty tired, time for bed. I forgot to mention something. I bought some chocolate milk this weekend and the expiration date was September 11. Come 'on! They couldn't have skipped a day?! Another thing I forgot - two friends from work, at different times throughout the day, touched my hair. That's all I have to say about that. That's all I got. Stay Gold, Bob 9-01-03 I said I'd have a diary today and I'm a man of my word. It's Labor Day! On second thought, I'm going to take the day off. See you on Tuesday. Always, Bob Man, I just read some sad news; Charles Bronson passed away. My favorite Charles Bronson performance was in The Great Escape. He played Flight. Lt. Danny 'The Tunnel King' Velinski. But he made it to 81, that's pretty good. 1921-2003 |
