10-31-01 -- One Year Anniversary!
You know, when I was coming up in the sleepy village of Steubenville, Ohio, I never would have guessed that I would have ended up in New York City, I never would have guessed that there'd be an internet and I never would have guessed that my site would be the #1 site in the world! A year ago today, BobBorden.com was launched. It's been a crazy 12 months for yours truly. My own line of merchandise, write-ups in magazines like Time Out New York and sharing my own personal message of tolerance and understanding. A year ago -- They said, "Don't start up any new ventures, the Internet, is a dying medium." They said, "You can't sustain an audience with a simple diary," and they said, "Don't even waste your time." Well, to all the "cant's" and to all the "don'ts" I'M STILL HERE, I'M IN YOUR FACE AND I'M NOT GOING ANYWHERE!!!!!!!! The BobBorden.com one-year anniversary staff party was last night -- click here to see all the fun. As always, big thanks to Walter Kim for helping make it all possible. Thanks, dog! Recently, I was asked, what are you going to be for Halloween? I was reminded of the very first story I told on this site. Here's my Halloween story from the first day of BobBorden.com...

"10-31-00
Happy Halloween! OK, story time. When I was in the 6th grade I went trick or treating. I was with my older brother, George and his friends. We were walking around and I said let's go over here. Over here was a dark row of apartments with no lights. They said no Bob; there's no one there. I didn't believe it and went anyway and they went to the next house. Now, I must tell you I was dressed like a devil and had on one of those rubber masks that you can't see out the sides. The guys were yelling at me to come on and I walked towards the sidewalk and this big blonde kid dressed like an Indian came from no where and stole my bag of candy. I was standing there with the bag handles watching my candy run away. I cried and cried. Years later in Hoboken, some punks hit me in the head with an egg. To make a long story short, I think Halloween blows. "

Thanks to all the great people that I've met through this website over the past year, it was my pleasure to meet you. Stay tuned for another great year of BobBorden.com! A major redesign is in the works right now, big, exciting things are coming soon - Thanks again, and don't forget to tell your friends!!! God Bless America!!!! It's been a whole year!!!!

It's official -- I have a cold. It's in the throat right now - I have a very deep, some might say, sexy voice. I'm taking aspirin, drinking tea with lemon/honey and getting my rest. I have a feeling that my nephew, Jacob, gave it to me. Then again, maybe I wore myself down with all that driving this weekend. I'll probably never find out. I don't have a lot to say today. I know I say that a lot and then go off on my commute in but this time I got nothing. When I went back to Ohio, I picked up my old record player. I told you I bought an LP because it wasn't available on CD. Anyway, I'm hooking the record player up to my receiver last night and there's no place to plug it in! It has a digital this and a digital that but no love for my turntable. That's messed up! In society, have we progressed beyond the point where we no longer need phonographic inputs on our receivers? Would it really have put out Sherwood if they would have just added 59 cents more of electronics? I can take a phone call in my car, while I'm driving but I can't play a freaking LP in my living room?! Is this America? Talking about the highway reminded me of a story. On my way back from Ohio, at certain points, I had the old car up around 85mph. At one of these points, I look over at the median and see a police car just sitting there. I blew past him at 85. That's quite the feeling, your heart stops and you're focused on the rear view. He didn't come after me - I couldn't believe it! I so deserved that ticket! I'm going to slow it down from now on, that was too fast. That was almost a story, ha ha. If you watched the show last night you heard Dave talk about our Scenic Designer Kathleen Ankers' passing. When I started off in the mailroom 6 years ago we were on the same floor. She was always so nice to me, always had a kind word. I'd ask how she was and she'd always say, "Just lovely, my dear." She was cool -- My condolences to her family. That's it for today. God Bless America!!!!

Thursday night, I watched Citizen Kane. I've never seen it before and man was it great! I should say I watched it Thursday night up to a point. That point being when I fell asleep. I woke up Friday morning and picked up where I left off. Man was it great! By the time I finished the film it was around 12. I thought to myself, you know, you didn't make any plans, you have Friday off, why not kick it back to Ohio? I put down a big bowl of food for my cats and I was off to Ohio by one o'clock. The highway was great and the leaves are at the height of changing, very lovely. It also snowed, I couldn't believe it -- The day before I was walking around without a jacket! In my hurry to take off, I only brought old-school Van Halen CDs with me. I love VH but for eight hours! --That's too much. I got back and hung out with my Mom. Saturday, I got my oil changed -- in my car, ha ha! and waited for the nephews to come over. I was greeted with a friendly, "Hey, diaper head." I retorted, "Oh yeah, poop bottom." I love the kids! My Mom, Brother, Sister-in-law, nephews, niece and myself had a good dinner. Thanks, Mom. Saturday night, I said good-bye to the kids and started to wash my dirty clothes. As you may or may not know my Dad passed away earlier this year. Anyway, I just said something simple to myself like, what about all his stuff? And damn it if the water works didn't start. It's hard to describe when that happens, you just get a heavy heart. I haven't felt like that since earlier in the year. It's so hard to talk about it with my Mom or my Brother. I am like my Dad in that I keep it all bottled up on the inside. It felt good to let some of it go. Not too long after it happened a friend who went through the same thing told me, you'll never really get over it and damn if he wasn't right. OK, I have to switch gears here. Sunday, I got up early and drove back to NJ. Good drive. I was supposed to go to a wedding on Sunday but going back to Ohio kind of ruined that. I have to be honest, I wasn't in the mood to dance with someone else's wife or girlfriend. Always a bridesmaid, you know what I'm saying? Anyway, I'm sorry I didn't go. Maybe this will make up for it -- Craig and Rebecca, may you have a long, happy life together. That was something, right? That's it for today. God Bless America!!!!

What a great time last night! I've never seen U2 before and they didn't disappoint. Everytime they mentioned New York, the place went crazy -- as you would imagine. Garbage opened up, they're a cool group. OK, I'm not going to give you a blow by blow recap -- this isn't U2.com, ya know. I went with a really cool woman, Aimee. We had a great time! She really knew her U2, I was impressed. Thanks for a great time! I'm going to make this diary crazy short today. Went to a concert, rocked out and that's about it. There isn't going to be a Friday Diary. I'm taking the day off to relax. Tune back in on Monday! Have a great weekend. God Bless America!!!!!!

10-24-01
3:50 in the am.

I got home last night and turned on the old TV. There was nothing on. So, I started to watch The Limey. Man do I love that movie! Anyway by the end of the film I started to fall asleep. I got up, walked to my bedroom and crashed. I woke up at 3:50 am. I walked back out to the living room and the TV and all the lights were still on. So, I said to myself, when in Rome. And I started flipping the channels. A lot of commercials on at 3:50. I did start to watch Hudson Hawk on HBO. I've never seen it because it was such a flop. The part I saw was pretty entertaining. Then again, it was 3:50. I'm sure I'll get the chance to see it again. Man -- is it humid out, yuk. I'm going to see U2 tonight. I'm very excited, I've never seen them live before. I wasn't going to go because the tickets I was offered are behind the stage. However, a friend pointed out to me that it's an open stage and it should be fine. So, I'm going. I filled up my lighter this morning, got my ear plugs (enough for myself and four friends) and I'm ready to enjoy the sweet, sweet music. I'll have a full report tomorrow. I've brought ear plugs to a lot of shows and I start off wearing them but the music doesn't seem that loud and I end up taking them out. I'm going to try and wear them tonight. So, afterwards I won't have to keep saying, "What?!" when having a simple conversation. That's all I got for today. If they don't play Sunday, Bloody Sunday, I'm going to freak! Have a good day. God Bless America!!

10-23-01
Not much to say today. It's overcast in New York/New Jersey and in my heart. I think rain is on the way, my trick knee is acting up, ha ha. I don't have a trick knee, that was just a joke. Last night, I did nothing. I hung a frame on my wall, that's something, right? After that, I laid down on my new rug and listened to music all night on the old headphones. It sounds weird but I had a really good night. I took myself on a musical journey on my magic carpet from Pier-One Imports. I also had this crazy dream. Too crazy to talk about here. I was breaking into a relative's house and walking around like a cat burglar--weird. Back to the carpet -- At one point in my musical journey, I wondered if anyone called my land line. I was in such a comatose state that I actually contemplated getting on my cell and calling myself. I was very close to doing it but then I thought, this is pathetic -- it would be even more so if I didn't get any calls, which ended up to be the case. Ah, the laziness. That's it 4 today -- Did you check out what I just wrote -- I'm going to start writing my diary like Prince. Pretty hip, huh? Hello? God Bless America!

10-22-01
Howdy everybody! I tell ya what I'm gonna do, I'm gonna tell you about my weekend. Friday night I came home and just kicked it. Some TV, some pizza and just resting my body because I know my Saturday is going to be off the hook. Saturday, I wake up early. I looked in the mirror and said to myself, what are we going to do today? Not soon after, I was in my car, driving to The Wiz. I bought an LP record recently because it isn't available on CD. I did this and I don't have a record player. So, now, in my mind, I have to get one. It's all I can think about. I look around for close to an hour. I picked up an open box record player for $65. I'm walking around the store with it and a clerk comes up to me and says, "You need a receipt to carry that around." I said, "I haven't bought it yet." He said, "The receipt that was by the machine." I said, "There was no receipt by the machine." He said, "OK, I'll write one up for you." The exchange went on a little longer than that but you get the general idea. He was using the tern, receipt, for the "tag" that describes the item. A receipt is what you get when you complete a purchase. It was like the famous Who's on First comedy routine except this guy wasn't funny. Then, instead of writing up the "receipt" he helps out another customer. Which gave me time to think -- do I really need this record player? I'm going to spend $65 to play a $10 record? I put the player back and walked out. I hate The Wiz. From there, I kicked it over to Ikea. I need a big shelf system in my bedroom to keep everything neat. I picked up the $24, 6 foot, wood shelf system. It's for a garage, not really for a bedroom but I asked myself, when was the last time you had someone in your bedroom? So, I got it. I couldn't believe I got it in my car. Nissan, they know how to make a ride. So, I came back and set up my shelf, I like it. Saturday night, I hung out with my friend Tiffany. She cooked up some dinner and we just kicked it and watched Miller's Crossing. I'm still not sure if I understand that movie. Sunday, I got up early again. I went over to Burlington Coat Factory to look around but they didn't open yet. There's a car wash on the same block, so I decided to give my car a thrill. She cleans up good. I go back to the coat factory and look around. Tiffany told me about it. I always thought they manufactured stuff there. I had no idea it was a store. Story of my life, six years in Hoboken and I just find this out. Anyway, I've always wanted a Pea Coat and they had them there. Man, was I excited! I can't wait for the cold to come back. I'm going to wear that sucker everyday! After that, I drove to Nutley to do my laundry. And after that, I drove to Pier-One Imports. I love that store -- it's just crap that no one really needs. I say that because if I wasn't in a shopping complex that didn't have a Pier-One Imports, I wouldn't have been in a Pier-One Imports. So, I'm looking around and I can overhear a woman talking to her daughter. The mother is just commenting on all the scented candles - the daughter could care less. The mother has a deep, deep cigarette/New Jersey voice. It's quiet and then she says, "What do you think of Cinnamon Twist?" I just thought that was the funniest thing. This deep/cigarette voice talking about Cinnamon Twist. Moments like that make me happy to be alive. I'll be telling that story for the rest of my life. So, I leave Pier-One Imports with a rug, a pillow and you guessed it, Cinnamon Twist candles. I should say that when I was driving around this weekend, it was absolutely beautiful. Sunroof open, windows down beautiful. Again, happy to be alive. OK, wow, this was a long one. Have a great day. God Bless America!

10-19-01
Nothing like a night of the old drinky drink to make you feel alive again. Bobby went out last night. I celebrated my birthday with friends at the local watering hole. I didn't get crazy with the drink, just enough to get a nice buzz going. At one point, I ordered a rum and Coke. I couldn't even come close to finishing it, that hard stuff isn't my cup of tea. I started off the night with my friends Paula (Paula's Notes) and Laura. We went to a hotel/bar, very chic. I saw a hot redhead there months ago. I'm still hoping I get to see her again but it wasn't meant to be last night. We parted ways around 10:30 and then I met up with everyone at a bar. Good time, just talking to people and kicking it. I ended the evening at 2 am with Walter and "Sally" in a 24 hour diner. I had scrambled eggs, toast and two huge sausage links -- Mmmmmmmm, sausage! So, Walter and "Sally" live in a very nice neighborhood. However, there's drawbacks to every neighborhood. One of their drawback is that at night, transvestite hookers like to walk the streets. So, I leave Walter and "Sally" to walk to the train station. As I'm walking, I look over and see two transvestite hookers and I heard "her" say, "Oh, you know he's 5-0." I couldn't have walked fast enough. I love New York!!!!!

I want to say thanks to everyone that hooked me up last night, I didn't pay for a damn thing! Big ups to: Paula, Laura, Walter, "Sally," Joe and Eric. I'm not sure what I'm going to do this weekend. I feel like going for another long drive. This sounds stupid but I only have a shower in my apartment. I'd love to find a bath and just kick back and chill. I don't know. OK, that's all I got. Have a great weekend! God Bless America.

7pm -- Leave work

7:20 - At bus station, waiting for bus to come

7:25 - Tried to use the power of levitation to take the pay phone receiver off the hook, unsuccessful.

7:31 - Bus is boarding. I see an attractive woman walking towards me, I hope she sits by me and I hope there's some way to start a conversation. She sits in front of me, damn!

7:35 - Bus takes off.

7:43 - Traffic is heavy tonight. The woman sitting next to me is eating something from her purse. It kind of gets on my nerves but I don't let it get to me.

7:55 - Back in Hoboken. Go to the ATM, my poor bank account.

8:00 - Walk in to Super Cuts and get a haircut.

8:15 - Wow, that's short alright. That was my response to the question, short enough?

8:18 - Pick up a snack in the store across the street. Walk home.

8:30 - Turn on the tube and I'm just in time to catch the second Larry Sanders Show. I feed the cats and take a load off.

9:00 - Junkyard Wars comes on. Still not sure if I like that new CO-host. They made cannons, pretty cool.

10:00 - I watched the E True Hollywood Story on Corey Haim. What am I doing? I ask my self until it's over.

I hope you enjoyed this blow by blow account of my life. Have a great day. God Bless America.

I'm not going to do a Bob's Mystery Scrambled Word contest today. I just don't have the energy to look up those big words anymore. Plus, I think having competition was getting away from my message of love and understanding. Instead, I have two questions for you today: 1. Do you have a tattoo? and 2. Do you have a motorcycle? Please let me know on my message board and remember -- you don't have to use your real name. I need a haircut. The last time I was in the chair was September 11th. I wanted to get one on my way to work yesterday but I felt like I'd be cutting it close. I just bought an album because the CD was unavailable, forgetting that I don't own a record player anymore. I want to go back to vinyl -- I miss it. I miss the cover art. I have two albums framed in my apartment. One is an old school Frank Sinatra album. He's in a suit, in a recording studio, the title of the record is Strangers in the Night. And the other is Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska. It's a great album cover! An endless highway and an old car with snow on the bottom of the windshield in the foreground. It's beautiful. That Nebraska record was recorded on a four-track, absolutely amazing. I love music.

Here's something new -- At some point today I'm going to say these phrases at the most inappropriate times:
1. Drop the science
2. Save the drama for your Mama.

One last note for today -- Happy Birthday to my brother George!!!!! That's about it for today. Have a good one. God Bless America!

10-16-01
Wow, what a crazy birthday night! It's too crazy to even write about. OK, I didn't do anything. I was so tired yesterday because I couldn't sleep Sunday night because I got up at 1:10 on Sunday afternoon. I did manage to get a six pack and celebrate with my dear friend, the TV. I canceled Starz and wouldn't you know it, last night Breakin' 2 / Electric Boogaloo was on. Even my TV mocks me. Why did I switch to HBO, WWWHHHHHYYYYYY? Internet Acting, thank you, thank you very much. I like that Curb Your Enthusiasm show, That guy is so angry, I love it. It was crazy on my walk to work this morning. Sirens, jack hammers, people, oh the people, am I right? I went to bed at 10:30 last night, I feel great today. So great that I'm going to stop writing, get off my ass and live damn it -- LIVE!!!!!!! That's all I got. God Bless America.

10-15-01
Friday night I watched some TV and caught Meet The Parents on HBO. It was a funny movie. I love that Owen Wilson, he always gives a good performance - Except for Shanghai Noon but that may have had more to do with the script that him. Saturday, I woke up and I said to myself, it's time to do something different. I've always wanted to go to Woodstock - So, I loaded up a plastic garbage bag of clothes and toiletries and off I went. Wookstock is about 90 miles North from Hoboken. It was a beautiful day to drive. The New York Throughway is a beautiful road. I get up there and saw a lot of traffic on what seemed to be the main drag where all the "action" is. I'm not sure what I was expecting but traffic wasn't it. I looked around and said to myself, to hell with this and I turned around and drove back. I stopped off the drive thru to get some grub. I kept thinking that that there was going to be plenty of chances to take a NJ exit before I had to go over the Tappan Zee Bridge but there wasn't. I screwed up and had to go into the city. I got down to the George Washington Bridge and took that back to NJ. From there I drove to Nutley to do my laundry, like I do, every weekend. I went from 11:30 to 4:00 without using the bathroom - I just was thinking of other things. I will say the last 20 minutes were a bitch, ha ha! -- Saturday night, in Hoboken, where I didn't want to be. Sunday, I woke up at 1:10. I watched TV until 6 and went out and got a meatball sandwich for dinner. On the way back I ran into a neighbor and I was totally out of it from not communicating with anyone all weekend. I couldn't even carry on a simple conversation, sorry John. So that was my weekend. On Friday I told you about a special announcement. Here it is -- Today is my Birthday. I'm 32. 32. 32? 32! Oh sweet Lord, today I turn 32. I thank thee for the life you hath given me. I only ask this: What now Lord, What do I do now? Also, our intern, Rick, has a birthday today as well. Rick is 21 today. Here's what 21 and 32 look like. Congrats Rick! That's it for today. God Bless America!!!!

10-12-01
It's 1:16 in the am and I just got back from a great, great show! Mike Watt was just fantastic. He can slap that bass! OK, so I'm not a good concert reviewer, big deal! I'm still in that "wow" stage after seeing a good show. I got there around 10pm, just as the second band, Grand National, took the stage. They were really good. The drummer really stood out, she knew what she was doing on those skins. Maxwell's is a small, intimate club. A great place to see some music -- so I found out tonight! I was there alone and I didn't mind it as much as I thought I would. You don't go to a show to hangout, you go to hear the music. The lights went down and Mike Watt and his band walk through the crowd to get to the stage. The stage is five steps in front of me. You can see them play up close. They were tight. One song going into the other, some musical interludes every so often. He's so good on that bass! Funky, interesting and moving. That's how I'd describe his style. I should also say unique. I have to admit, that the first time I heard of him was only back in 95. He had the CD out with a lot of cool guest players. I love that CD, it's so eclectic. He started off years ago in Mintutemen and Firehose I bought one Minutemen CD but that's it so far. So, when the crowd went nuts for some of the songs, I had no frame of reference. However, they were kick butt songs, a great set. After the show he sold his own merchandise. I'd never seen that before. I bought a T-shirt and a poster. He autographed the poster for me! How cool is that? The guy is on the road, playing his music and making a living. And for the fan, you get to walk right up to the man and tell him what an awesome show it was. Which is exactly what I said to him. I'm glad I went! Wow! Check out Mike Watt's website: www.hootpage.com. OK, tune in on Monday because I'm going to have a very special Bob's Diary -- It's a surprise! God Bless America!!!! I'm going to take a shower.

10-11-01
My new favorite band is The White Stripes. They were going to be on the show last night but got bumped at the last possible minute. They kicked butt in rehearsal and I was looking forward to seeing them on the show. I felt so bad that when I got back to Hoboken, I stopped off at Tunes and bought their latest CD. I like it a lot. It's good rock 'n roll with great guitar riffs and great lyrics. While I was in the record store, I bought a ticket to a show for tonight. Mike Watt is playing at Maxwell's tonight. I've never seen him and I've never been to Maxwell's before. 6 years in Hoboken and I've never been to one of its landmark clubs. Check out Mike Watt's website, www.hootpage.com - It's very entertaining. There's even a link to see the show live on the Internet. So, we can all be at the same show together tonight @ 10pm. That's pretty cool. OK, I want to thank everyone for playing Bob's Mystery Scrambled Word yesterday. The response is overwhelming but we did have a winner. Congratulations to Lee Cain. He had unscrambled the word correctly - conversationalist. Lee will receive a package of free stuff in the mail. Again, people really do win on BobBorden.com. I love this time of year but I have yet to find the balance of what type of jacket to wear. It's cold in the morning and warmer at night. I've been wearing my Late Show baseball jacket but I was sweating in it for the past two days. Today, I'm wearing the jacket I wear on the Paula's Notes page. Maybe that will work out better. Speaking of Paula's Notes - Sweets better get a new note to me soon or she's out. That's called tough love. OK, that's it for today. Have a good one. God Bless America!!!!

10-10-01
So, I bundle up yesterday and by the time I left work, it was warmer. You just can't win sometimes. I don't have much today. I've started watching CNN all day again. I gave myself close to a week off but I like to know what's going on. It's stressful to watch that all day. Have you seen the video coming out of Bin Laden's camp? -- Straight up evil. I'm going to change the subject now. I've always wanted to drive north and check out the leaves changing color. That may be in the cards for this weekend. Day 2 of HBO: HBO let me down last night. I have 5 HBOs, 2 HBO families and 3 Cinamax. Odds are -- there should be something on, right? H - B - O !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You've won this round - AAAAAHHHHH!!!!!! It's time for Bob to find a hobby other than TV. Wait, did I just write that? I love TV. Sweet TV, I'm sorry I ever doubted you. OK, I'm back. Here's the biggest mistake I made yesterday; for dinner, I had a Gyro. It was incredible but minutes later it felt like I swallowed a brick. I have to get back on my diet. I forgot to mention that for desert, yes I had desert, I had rice pudding. Every time I eat pudding I think of the saying, you are what you eat. I feel and look like pudding. Excuse me for a second - Sweet Lord, please help me find the strength to sit down at the dinner table and only eat what I need to survive. OK, I'm back. I can't believe I'm doing this again but it was a tremendous success last week.

Time for Bob's Mystery Scrambled Word.
Rules: Those that work for BobBorden.com and Late Show are not eligible. The first person to e-mail me with the correct answer is the winner. I will notify the winner and only the winner upon confirmation of the correct word. The winner will have his/her name mentioned on my website the following day. You must include your address with your entry so I can send you some free stuff. OK, let's play the Feud! I always wanted to say that.

Here is today's Bob's Mystery Scrambled Word:

Good Luck! Have a great day. God Bless America!!!!

Happy Birthday to my friend Pam!!!! Pam is 24 years old today - I hope she doesn't mind me saying that. I just think it's neat. 24's a good age, 31 on the other hand - what's in a number? That's what I keep telling myself. It is freaking cold in NY/NJ. I made the mistake of wearing a T-shirt to work yesterday. I froze my freaking butt off. Today I'm better prepared. In keeping with my new found attitude of live for today, yesterday, I canceled Starz and got HBO again. I had it for the Sopranos and canceled it after the last season. Starz just wasn't cutting it. They kept playing a Michael Winslow concert film over and over. He's the guy from the Police Academy movies that makes all the crazy sound effects. I figure eight more bucks a month isn't going to kill me. So, I get settled in for the night. Diet Dr. Pepper, some chips, a chill in the air but not to worry because I have my blanket to keep me cozy. As I turn on the set, I say to myself, show me the magic. And HBO is playing Space Cowboys. BOOOOOO!!!! Oh well. They made up for that by showing Curb Your Enthusiasm at 9:40, very funny. Band of Brothers was also on but I have to be in the right mood for that. I listened to some music, talked on the cell and that was my night. Today, I'm hoping for a lot of mail. Ever since I was a kid, I love getting mail. I used to send away for everything, just to have that thrill of getting something. I was a loser from day one, ha ha. I think that's all I have for today. Yep, that's it. What's new out there? Let me know on my message board. God Bless America!!!

I think I'm going to start wearing a cowboy hat. Friday night I left work and walked down 8th avenue to the Port Authority. It was crazy packed, so I just said, screw this and I went back to work to regroup. I don't know if you know this but I'm not a fan of big crowds. On my way back to work, I went into the subway. Everybody just got off the train and they were headed straight for me -- an uncomfortable feeling, to say the least. I got back to work and hung out until I thought the rush hour madness was over. I get home, crack open a brew (red flag -- drinking alone) and pop in The Terminator. Man that's a great movie! I had no idea how talented James Cameron was. He's an artist. Saturday, I woke up and my mission was to get a new front tire for the love machine. I went to one of those wholesale stores. You buy the tire on the wholesale side and the garage "next door" puts it on. When I took it next door, they guy told me there's a two hour wait, damn. So, I took it in stride and went shopping. I stayed in The Wiz for an hour. I was very close to buying Scanners for $10 on DVD but couldn't go through with it. As I said, I was in there for an hour and didn't buy anything, I felt like I was robbing them by not getting anything -- it was a good feeling. From there, I went and bought some new headlights, one of them just burnt out. By then the car was ready and I was on my way to what strange and exotic place? Nutley, NJ to do my laundry. I left an old blanket there a few weeks back and to my surprise, they still had it! Score one for Bob! I went out to the car to put on my new headlights and the screws were rusted and stripped -- minus 2 for Bob. That was about it for Saturday. Sunday, I woke up early for some reason. I decided I had nothing else better to do so I drove down to Red Bank, NJ. I looked around the record store down there for close to an hour. They have a metal section and a punk section -- everything's not all lumped together. I was going to get Twisted Sister's greatest hits but I got Neil Young instead. I wanted to hear his country CD, Old Ways. I also went to Kevin Smith's comic book store. I'm not a big comic book guy. I got in the car and drove north. On the radio, they broke in with the news that we've retaliated!!!!! I kicked it back home so I could check it out on the TV. And aside from getting some ham at Boston Market, that's where I was the rest of the night. That was the weekend. That's it. God Bless America!!!!!

Last night I met up with my friend Tiffany and we hung out and had a few drinks. It was a lovely way to end a busy Thursday at work. I'm not sure what I'm going to do this weekend. Man, I have nothing today. Hey, remember the cool mystery word thing I did on Wednesday? That was different, huh? I have to get a new tire tomorrow. Oh Sweet merciful Lord, will I ever meet a woman that likes me as much as I like her? Please, what's my purpose Lord, what's my purpose? OK, I'm back. Like you don't talk to the Lord, give me a break! I may do something crazy this weekend. Not 400-mile crazy like last weekend but something, I guess a better word would be different. Maybe I'll go to a new small town and do my laundry. Except I'll pretend that I know everybody, how cool will that be? I did a remote like that for the show once. It didn't air but I stood in the street all day and went up to strangers and pretended that I knew them. Sometimes you go out with an idea and you strike gold, other times, nothing. Which is why it didn't air. Ryan Adams was on our show last night. He's pretty good; I'm going to listen to his CD this weekend, maybe on my way to the laundry mat. My friend Walter ordered some pasta for dinner last night and they gave him something extra: a big cockroach. It was stuck in the cheese, right on top like a cherry on a Sunday. Totally disgusting!!! That happens more than you'd think. At work, we ordered some food and the bag had bugs everywhere! Yuk. If I were Walter, I'd freaking sue. OK, that's about it. I gave blood this morning and I think I'm dizzy. I'm hoping that this is the weekend where America strikes back and strikes back h-a-r-d!!! God Bless America!!!!! Have a safe one.

I was overwhelmed by the response to Bob's Mystery Scrambled Word yesterday. You are telling your friends to check this site out, thank you! Congratulations to Taffy Conrad. Taffy was the first person to send in the correct response of ambidextrous. OK, to be honest, everybody got it. I'll make it harder next time. My friend, Pam, said it was too easy, she got it right away. Well, LA DE DA, miss I'm so smart! OK, sorry. I've sent off a T-shirt and a CD for Taffy's enjoyment. Taffy, I hope you enjoy it, please feel free to write about it on my message board when you get the package. People really do win on BobBorden.com. Is Taffy a male or female name? I had a busy day at work yesterday. I got home and I caught the end of Spinal Tap on TV. I can't get enough of that movie. I also watched Junkyard Wars; the new season has started. They have a new CO-host! I'm not sure if I like that. I ordered the DVD, Terminator at the same time as my friend Jay and he got his yesterday and I didn't. What's up with that? Bad mojo is in the air. Anybody doing anything cool this weekend? I'm going to get a new front tire and cruise to somewhere in the area that I've never been to. I forgot to talk about this the other day but the night before last I was listening to Neil Young on my headphones. After that I turned on the TV and on VH1, they had a profile of him on their Legend series. It was very good. Look out for that. I love his music, good stuff. That's it for today. Have a good one. God Bless America!

Wednesday!!! Time to get over the hump! I didn't do much last night. I'm just in chill mode, taking it as it comes, you know? OK, I've got nothing today. Oooo, here's something -- the garage I took my car to yesterday only charged me $10. It turns out I need a new tire, it's not holding the air because of a crack or something. The good thing about that is I found a cool guy to fix my car in the future. If you're in Hoboken, take it to Sal's Garage.

Time for Bob's Mystery Scrambled Word.
Here's how we play; the first person to unscramble and e-mail the correct mystery word to me -- will get something mailed to them -- for free!!!!

It sure was a cold, dark day in the city yesterday. It's so much better today. I know a lot of people at work that think they're coming down with something. It's too early for people to come down with colds, right? I was so tired yesterday from driving all weekend. Again, it was worth it. Yesterday, I was going to start eating better. Then my friend, Lee, bought me a doughnut and it was all down hill from there. I'll try again today. I did it once, I just need to find my discipline again. Having some food on your plate and just saying to yourself, I can't have that, that's not good. That's what I want to get back to. I heard ZooLander was a funny movie. I'm going to try and see it this weekend. The first Terminator comes out today on DVD. That was a great movie. Show me a great story and I'll show you a great movie. When I was driving this weekend, I couldn't help to notice that the leaves are in stage one of changing color. It was very lovely. I was at a rest stop, I just took care of some business and I was sitting in my car finding the right CD to get me on my way. There was a man walking to a bench to sit down and have a snack. I thought to myself, this guy has the right idea -- just stop and smell the roses. Then he yelled over to the woman in his car, "Hey, these peaches aren't ripe!" It was pretty funny. I noticed something else: Every so often on the 400 + mile journey, the state had those orange message boards, you know, the kind that warn you of construction. They were set up everywhere on route 80, for 400 miles. They read "Proud to be an American" or "God Bless the USA." It was pretty cool. I went to Ohio, in part, to get away from thinking about it 24 hours a day but seeing that, you know that everybody's on the same page. It hit everyone, not just those in NY and DC. I can't wait until we strike. I'm not the kind of guy you'll ever see holding a "peace" sign. I want payback and I want it now. That's it! God Bless America!

I was thinking about it all last week. And on Friday, I did it, I got in the old car and drove to the motherland, Steubenville, Ohio. I left the cats a big bowl of food and left around 8:30 at night. The idea was to drive until I got tired and then check into a hotel. At 1am I checked into a Best Western and called it a night. At 6:30am I was off again and by 10:30 I was giving my Mom a kiss. I had a good time. I played with my niece and nephews. And I finally got to see the new addition, Max. He was something, just a little tiny guy. I did some shopping for some things I needed and then we had some BBQ, MMMMMMMM, B-B-Q. It was a short trip but I needed to get away and get my head together. I'm all stressed out from watching too much TV. So, I get back yesterday and after a day of driving 75/80 MPH, I get home, look at the front of my car and the tire was flat. I was starting to get pissed but then I thought, damn, I'm lucky I didn't drive right off the side of a cliff. "There's always something" but getting upset or worrying about it isn't worth it anymore...life's too short. That's my message for today and everyday. Live life as if today were your last day. Man, am I tired. I'll have more tomorrow. God Bless America!
