Welcome to the last real diary of bobborden.com.
Man, I had a great weekend! Friday, I tried my new office on for size.

Bob's new office
Ha ha, get it? I'm in a closet! My boss Eric came up with that one. I'm not going to get started for about 3 weeks. I can't wait!
Saturday I woke up around 10:30, stayed in bed and listened to music. Before I knew it, it was 12:00! I got up, walked to the sofa and got up again around 5:00, ha ha! I was really tired.
Saturday night I had plans to meet Cara in the city to have dinner with Maureen and Steve. Damn if I didn't forget to take a photo! I never met them before and had a lovely evening. Thank you Maureen and Steve!
Sunday I was slow to get moving again. I walked around Hoboken for a bit and then did my laundry.

Laundry
Man, it was packed! While everything was washing/drying, I picked up this little number...

AM/FM/TV/WEATHER Walkman
I want to start listening to the news while I'm riding the bus in the morning, rather than listening to my ipod. I love this thing! It's so neat. I know it's just a radio but I can listen to TV too. Only $28. It's the little things.
OK, that's all I know. Thanks for checking in for the last 6 years. It is time to go.
Best,
Bob

Couldn't update last night due to Blogger problems -- such is life.
Did you see this photo in the news yesterday?

Another kid got stuck
in one of those "claw" toy
machines
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
Reminds me of the time back in 2004 when...

Ah, crap!
Have a great day!

Is it cold or what?! I had to bust out the old space heater yesterday morning.

I've had this
thing for a while
It sure does take the edge off a chilly bathroom.
Hey, here's my other pair of new kicks:

Bob's new shoes
(They were on sale)
How about another; Highlights from the Last 6 Years...Highlight #97:

7-18-02
Tom does the Robot
in front of the
White House
That was Highlights from the Last 6 Years - YAWN! Ha ha.
That's all I know today. I have to get to bed, I'm right on the borderline of crashing on my sofa...bed is so much better, ha ha.

Thanks to my special lady friend, Cara, for returning my call/waking me up...otherwise, I'd still be sleeping on my sofa:)
Quick one today. I decided to post a photo of my new shoes after all, check this out:

Bob's new
kicks
Exciting stuff, right? I like them.
Let's do another, Highlights from the Last 6 Years...Highlight #43:

12-19-01
Bob gets a new
haircut
(too short?)
That was Highlights from the Last 6 Years.
bobborden.com will be no more a week from today (my 6th year of doing this). There will be no more updates, ever. It's just time to move on...time to live! I just want to make that clear.
Have a good day!

First, thanks for all the great e-mails/kind words! Second, let's get to the weekend!
Thursday and Friday I had a total of 5 cavities filled. The good news? I have two more, ha ha ha ha ha! Ah, crap. That's what I get for not going to the dentist for 3 years. Although, these cavities have probably been in the making for the last 15 years.
Saturday I did my laundry and did a little shopping. I needed some new kicks. Ha ha, I was just going to go through the routine of taking photos of my shoes but honestly, who gives a sh@t! Ha ha ha! BobBorden.com has a week left and then I'm off the grid!
Saturday night my special lady friend and I saw The Departed. It's a good one.
Sunday I just chilled out.
Last today, Highlights from the Last 6 Years...Highlight #67:

12-11-02
Some scumbag broke into
my car
That was Highlights from the Last 6 Years, tell your friends.
Have a good one.

Late Show with David Letterman
promoted me to the position of Writer!
Now is that siren-worthy news or what?! I'm still in shock but believing it more and more as time passes.
Without going into too much detail, my bosses (Justin & Eric) called me in yesterday (around 12:30) and gave me the great news.
I'm so happy I could cry.
But with this great news, comes some sad news...I'm shutting down bobborden.com. I just won't have the time. I'll continue to give little updates until this site's 6th anniversary, on the 31st.
See you on Monday -- have a great weekend!
Best,
Bob

After thinking about what to do today (for the last 45 minutes), I've decided to give myself the day off. Besides, I'm going to the dentist today to get 3 of my 5 cavities filled and I need to get in the zone, ha ha.
Have an enjoyable day.

The week of photo diaries continues...

Not sure if I've shared this
before - it's me on a
snowmobile!

And here's a photo of
me calling it in this week
with a lame photo
diary
Would you rather hear about my watching RoboCop and The Terminator on Saturday? Well OK then.
Be real!
Oh, I almost forgot, it's my brother's birthday! Happy Birthday George!

Let's keep it simple...how about an all-photo diary week? I like the sound of that.

Saturday night!
Laundry (YAWN!)

Sunday night
My birthday dinner with Cara
(YEAH!)
So as you can see, I had some ups and downs, ha ha. But the ups were great!

I had a nice little boost to my confidence level last night. I was leaving work and a guy yelled something like, "Bob Borden, you're great everytime you're on the show!" I pointed to him and yelled thanks! In a perfect world I would have talked to the guy but I had to meet a lady at 7:45.
My lady friend Cara & I saw Jenny Lewis last night:

Jenny Lewis with The Watson Twins
Oh my goodness were they great! When that album was released, I wore it out. I bought these tickets back in, I think, early September. Well worth the wait.
If you're in NYC tonight, they're playing The Town Hall again -- make a note of it.
I'm going to end today's diary with a new feature I call, Bob's Odd Download of the Week. The oddest song I downloaded this week was Chuck Mangione's Cannonball Run Theme. I'm still not 100% why.
That's it!

Two days without a real diary, my bad. My sofa got the best of me, same old story.
Before I start today, let's try a new feature called; Hey Google, bobborden.com is for sale too!

(I'm not proud)
How about those youTube guys, wow. $1.65 billion...I'd sell this site for $20 and a box of Cracker Jack, ha ha. That was just a joke Google, I'm sticking to $1.64 billion.
Man, I was SO close to seeing Lindsey Buckingham Tuesday night. But the $60 ticket price wasn't sitting well with my wallet. My friend Carl sent me a LB DVD, so I just watched that, ha ha. BTW, thanks Carl.
I'm going to cut this short because I have to make an effort to sleep in my bed tonight, ha ha.
More Friday, as always.

Another great weekend? You know it!
I decided to turn on the weekend early and got things started off Thursday night! I met my lady friend Cara for drinks...nothing crazy, it was just a nice way to take the edge off the week.
Before I move on to Friday, I should mention that I was going to call this diary entry - Bob & Cara's Weekend. But after writing that down, I thought that might have made everybody sick, ha ha. Better to just write about what we did than having to give an arbitrary title to life. I just wanna live! Ha ha ha.
Friday night we met up in Soho...the plan? To see the band, Gomez. But first, dinner. We were early for the show so we found a cool little place, Soho Park. I'm writing about this place because it was so damn good!
Guess where we sat?
It was an upscale burger joint. Very tasty!
Back to the concert, Gomez. We got there in plenty of time to see the opening act. They were kids, like, 21 or 23 year olds. So, I don't want to crush their dreams by saying something negative but, I was really looking forward to them not playing anymore.
Gomez turned out to be very great. I really enjoyed the show. We stood in the balcony by the railing...we could see everything:
Check it out, roadies!
Just when Gomez had the audience in the palms of their hands...they decided to let the guitarist do a song by himself. This act, set the knucklehead behind us in a tizzy. "This makes me want to kill myself!" "Somebody get me a Zoloft, I'm depressed!" And if he said this once, he said it 20 times. Finally the song was over and they got back to rock 'n' roll! Then, another guitarist sang a solo song! "Hey Gonads!" "Gonads!" - He was really happy with himself over that one. Besides that...I really did enjoy myself. For being a total jerk, I'm naming the guy that stood behind us at the Gomez concert, the bobborden.com A-hole of the Week.
The guy that stood behind us at the Gomez concert is
bobborden.com's A-hole of the Week
-way to go, jerk!
Oh, I almost forgot...there was a celebrity sighting at the show:
Adrian Grenier
(from Entourage)
That was cool, I like that show. He was in the VIP seats - must be nice!
Saturday's plan? The New York Botanical Garden! We took a train up to the Bronx to see the meld of horticulture and blown glass with their Chihuly exhibition. You'll get a better idea after checking out this photo:
Chihuly glass
We had fun, walking around on a crisp fall day. We did think their should have been more glass. In certain areas, it seemed like they just called it in. It was great to people watch -- that was the real show. Turns out, people LOVE blown glass...I overhead some woman say, "Oh my goodness, don't you just love the way the sun makes the crystals sparkle?" Ha ha -- OK!
After the garden, dinner in the city. We found a nice, empty, place. I get up to use the men's room, come back and there's another couple sitting right next to us! Are people really this dumb?! Good lord. I shut them out and enjoyed the meal with Cara. Great times!
Sunday was my day to chill. Laundry, A & P...nothing major.
That's all I got! Have a great day!
Best,
Bob

It's Friday and you know what that means...that's right, it's time to make up for all of my blogging mistakes in something I like to call:
Corrections:
In Monday's diary I wrote that the Honda dealership "Checked and adjusted belts," when in fact, they just checked them.
I also referred to my friend Jeff as, "My good friend," when I should have called him my "Secret life partner."
In Tuesday's diary I started a new feature called, "bobborden.com's Shame on You!" The idea wasn't mine, my boss, Ernie, gave it to me and I forgot to give him credit. Sorry.
In Wednesday's diary I had a major breaking news story when I posted my private instant messages between myself and former Rep. Mark Foley. I accidentally posted my screen name and revealed my identity. So, please ignore the screen name, bobborden.com, it's not really me, really.
And in Thursday's diary I said I was going to help a staffer kick his bathtub crank addiction but I forgot to mention his name; Chris Galletta. Also, it wasn't bathtub crank...he just gets a lot of mild headaches.
Oops, I was just reading what I wrote so far and in Tuesday's correction, I mistakenly called my boss, Ernie. It should be listed as Eric.
Going to end things today by saying good luck to a Late Show staffer, Chris.
Chris
(I never did get his
last name, ha ha)
Chris, this isn't goodbye, it's...oh who am I kidding, it's goodbye, I'll never see you again. Good working with you. And on that note...
That's all I got! Have a great weekend!
Best,
Bob

Time for a new feature to bobborden.com, I call it; bobborden.com's Virtual Intervention.
Before we start, yes, I do know that I'm not perfect and have some things to work on. But, at 36, I think I'm beyond saving, ha ha. Anyway, when I see a member of the younger set with a problem, I just can't sit back and pretend everything's OK -- learn from me, learn from my mistakes! With that said, back to the Virtual Intervention. After another long day, I'm leaving work, look to my left and see this:
Friend/coworker, Thea.
She's outside the building sucking back the smokes like a long-haul trucker, I look at her and she says, "I'm quitting, I swear!" It doesn't look like you're quitting!
THEA, PLEASE STOP SMOKING!
That was bobborden.com's Virtual Intervention...Next week, I get another staffer to kick bathtub crank:
bobborden.com - helping people help themselves
That's it! Have a great day.
Best,
Bob

Scandal rocks bobborden.com: DAY 1.

bobborden.com: I don't think this is appropriate, I feel weird.
Maf54: can I have a good kiss goodnight?
bobborden.com: No!
-- Wow, how about that guy, what a scumbag! The world keeps getting worse and worse, am I right?
I don't have anything today. Just needed to vent.

For the rest of this week I'm going to focus on my first love, that's right, I'm talking about investigative journalism. I'm starting a new series called:
bobborden.com's
Shame on You!
Here we go: I was standing at the bus stop the other day...I looked down and saw this:
What the F?!
How did this end up in the gutter of a busy city street? Well, I had to find out. After talking to all my informants, hitting the beat, pressing the flesh and bribing various low-level workers in many different fields...I came up empty. Yeah, this was a hard one to start off with, like, I have no leads! Man, this stinks. That was bobborden.com's Shame on You!
The bus home was hot/muggy last night, the a/c wasn't on. Just when I thought I couldn't take it anymore, I heard the a/c click on -- in that split second, I tilted my head up for what was sure to be a cool blast of air. What came out was a dank, rubbery, stagnant water smell. And that's how my day felt yesterday. Sigh.
OK, that's it. The Killers' new CD comes out today - I like them.
Best,
Bob

Yeah, this was a hard one to start off with, like, I have no leads! Man, this stinks. That was bobborden.com's Shame on You!
The bus home was hot/muggy last night, the a/c wasn't on. Just when I thought I couldn't take it anymore, I heard the a/c click on -- in that split second, I tilted my head up for what was sure to be a cool blast of air. What came out was a dank, rubbery, stagnant water smell. And that's how my day felt yesterday. Sigh.
OK, that's it. The Killers' new CD comes out today - I like them.
Best,
Bob

Another great weekend in the books! It all started off on Friday night.
My good friend Jeff was in town and we met up at the Old Castle pub in midtown.
[L to R]: Bob, Jeff, Pub
There was a group of us, not pictured; Sean, John (I think) and some girl (I can't remember her name). I had a fun time, great to see Jeff and Sean. The group was going to go to another bar but I was just in the mood to chill...I knew that if I would have joined them, it would have been a 3 AM night. I wasn't in the mood for that. Because...
Saturday I woke up at 7:30 AM, the plan? Take my car into the shop for the 7500-mile check up. My car has 10,267 miles...oops, ha ha. I'm not a fan of going to the dealer for service but since the car is still pretty new, I might as well do it up right. I was very impressed with the service there. They put out a bunch of newspapers but they didn't just slap them down, they fanned them out - classy. They had free coffee, doughnuts...very nice. What does the 7500-mile service entail?
7,500-Mile Service
* Change oil and filter
* Rotate tires
* Perform check on vehicle’s computer system
* Top off fluid levels
* Inspect and adjust brakes (including parking brake)
* Inspect steering
* Check and adjust belts
* Inspect front and rear suspension
* Inspect exhaust system
* Inspect and adjust tire pressures
* Inspect battery and terminals
* Inspect brake linings
* Inspect hoses and clamps
* Road test to inspect drivability problems
* Inspect wiper blades
Looking back on that list, it seems like the word, "Inspect," is one of those fancy buzz words that means nothing, ha ha. My Uncle Ron will love to know that with a discount coupon, my service came to $122 - they get you coming and going. But hey, free doughnuts. It's the little things.
After the dealership, laundry. While my clothes were washing, I bought some soap at Target. After laundry, I went to the A & P. I forgot about my soap purchase and bought MORE soap there. I have double the soap I need! (must be nice)
After all my errands (and now that I'm not sick), I finally had time to check out Kipley & Karen's new joy, August.

Man, that's one cute kid!
I cleaned my apartment after that.
Saturday night! The plan? Ted's Montana Grill with: Jay, "Sally," Jon, Walter, Tom, Cara and myself. Ted Turner makes a mean Bison...It was great!
Mmmmmmm, Bison.
We had a GREAT time.
Sunday morning, man was I tired! I had something going on three nights in a row...shattering my old record of nothing going on, ha ha ha!
I watched some football and before I knew it, it was 7:00 PM...time does fly.
So, that's all I know. Have a great day/week!
Hey, it's October! Wow.
Best,
Bob
