Sorry for the late update but what can you do? As of right now, I'm on vacation! So stick that in your hat and smoke it! A couple of things before I go:

My Boss Justin and I
wore the same shorts
yesterday!

Oh man, don't you just HATE that when it happens -- we were both so embarassed (ha ha).

AND...

Checkout this crazy
blue soap!

I love nature.

That's it! See you Aug 14th! Time to summer it up!

Here's a weird one...the guy sitting in front of me on the bus last night, he sat down, saw that no one was going to sit next to him, and he proceeded to contort his legs/body so that he could lay down on this very, very narrow seat (There's even a hump to contend with as this was in the back of the bus).

Would you lay down
on this?

It was the most uncomfortable thing I've ever seen. People confuse me.

I just saw another ad for Sonic Drive Ins...I have NEVER seen one of these places! Why are they showing me commercials for something I can't enjoy?! I just went to their website...there isn't one within 200 miles of Hoboken!

Speaking of commercials...I just saw David Carradine as Caine (Kung Fu) for YellowBook!

Say it ain't so
Grasshopper

I don't understand anything anymore.

I'm listening to Smashing Pumpkins' Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness, so Fing good! And I was able to get my hands on Tom Petty's new CD (thanks Tom!) - so far, so good.

Tired, Bed...

I wore my new shoes yesterday! No problems to report. Are you tired of hearing about my footwear? I know I am!

Changing the subject...

I did something yesterday I haven't done since 2002...can that be right? I made an appointment to see a dentist. Oh man, I haven't been to the dentist in 4 years, ha ha!

Going to the dentist
is cool!

I have to say, I'm not proud of this record. Back in the day, I kept my dentist in Ohio...then I switched to a dentist in the city, for obvious reasons. But after two visits, I never met the guy! It pissed me off to the point where I am now...with a tooth that feels better if I don't use it, ha ha. Life check: Being stubborn hasn't really worked for me so far.

Silent Lucidity is a good song, right?

I just watched a little of that Miami Ink show. If I HAD to get a tattoo today...I think I'd get a dagger on my neck. No, kidding. I'd probably get a pin-up girl on my forearm. Or an anchor, you know, like Popeye. But I'm not getting a tattoo.

That's it!

Best,

Bob

I'd just as soon not have another day like yesterday, ha ha. Whew! But such is life. Thank goodness I had a good weekend. Ah, the balance of life.

Yesterday I talked about my new kicks but when push came to shove, here's what I went with for the day:

Classic

Does itunes post albums at midnight? I have 30 minutes to find out. I want the new Tom Petty CD...he's always good for a catchy tune or two.

OK, that's it! More tomorrow.

Bob

Whew! This was a fast one BUT a good one!

Things got started off on Friday night when I had dinner with my friends "Sally," Walter, Tom and Jay. I said it before and I'll say it again, I love hanging with my dawgz! I had a great time but I made a dinner-ordering mistake...I went with my heart and not with my head. I got the mussels, now, there's nothing wrong with mussels EXCEPT, they're a lot of Fing work for what you actually get. They were great, don't get me wrong, but I think I'd need about 100 of them to get me to that all important satisfied level. I had much less than 100, ha ha.

Walking to the PATH train, I passed ground zero...still so weird. Just a big, somewhat empty, hole in the ground.

Saturday I woke up early and hit the laundry mat up the street. Nothing happened there, just did my laundry, ha ha.

Saturday night was great! I met up with a new friend and we saw Lady in the Water.

Lady in the Water

I wasn't 100% sure I wanted to see this film but compared to all the other crap, I had nothing to lose. Turns out I really liked it! Very smart, that's all I want to say - no spoilers, ha ha. After the movie, dinner, of course. After going to several different places, each with 70 minute waiting lists, we ended up at Houston's. It turned out to be perfect. Much better vibe than our first choice, the Cheesecake Factory. I don't even like cheesecake! Ha ha. I had crab cakes, delicious!

Sunday I woke up around 11. After some TV and some chilling out, it was 2:30 before I left the apartment. I drove to Nutley to have some lunch. I say Nutley but the place I go to is right on the border, I think it's really in Clifton but I like saying Nutley...I can throw a rock and hit Nutley from the pizza place. Anyway, great pizza! I went to Kohl's to buy some shoes. I know I said I'd never go there again BUT...what can you do? I couldn't find anything, then, for $20, I got these:

New kicks

For $20, I couldn't go wrong but I do have to say, these are the whitest shoes I've ever owned, ha ha.

After the shoes, I drove to A & P, Toys R Us (don't ask), went back to the apartment, cleaned, cooked dinner and that's all she wrote!

Have a great one!

Best,

Bob

Have you ever seen Wild at Heart?

"This is a snakeskin jacket! And for me it's a symbol of my individuality,
and my belief... in personal freedom."

Watching it right now. So good! I think I saw this 3 times in the theater, ha ha...Oh the 90's.

Well, the sun has set on another week...

Have a great weekend!

Bob

Hey, I was on the Tony Mendez Show yesterday!

[L to R]: Tony, Bob

That's always a treat.

And, did you know that if you leave precut carrots in the fridge for months and months, they go bad?

Fing gross!

Now you know. I have some stuff to do tonight...that's it!

I wore a new item of clothing yesterday, camouflage shorts:

Camo shorts

I like wearing new things...it's so rare that I get to update my wardrobe, anyway, I'm 30 minutes into my day, I run into Walter, he sees my shorts and says, "Ooooo, camouflage, where'd Bob go?!" Ha ha ha, very funny.

Then I ran into my friend Tom and he said, "Shoutout to the US military for getting you the desert camouflage!" What the F!? This is a disturbing trend but 2 people out of 100's doesn't make me sound the "never wearing this again" alarm.

I get to the end of my day and I'm talking to my friend Paula. She stops the conversation, gives me the once over and says, "Are those new? You know, you don't match anything."

Rather than make these people my A-hole(s) of the Week for being rude...I'm going to let this one go and save the camo shorts for washing the car. Or maybe I'll wear them with my fishing shirt, ha ha.

Sorry for the lack of real posts this week, sometimes you write the blog and sometimes the blog writes you. Not sure if that makes any sense in this context but it sounds cool, ha ha. I had a repeat of my weekend the week before and didn't feel like writing the same thing. I just went to the Hamptons (what's that, never heard of the...ha ha) and hung out with old and new friends. You've read it all before, trust me.

That's all I know.

Best,

Bob

I just worked all day yesterday, I can't be expected to talk, right?

How about this heat?! Crazy! Well, it is summertime, right? Calm down news media...when it snows in the summer, run with that story, until then, report something real.

I have no idea what's going on in Israel...I just don't know. Maybe I'll look that up.

So tired!

That's it!

Best,

Bob

I had a great weekend and you know what? I'm going to keep it to myself.

Bob
(file photo)

I can't leave you with nothing today, so how about another of Bob's Household Hints:

To give your clothes that "just out of the dryer" smell, why not keep a dryer sheet in your dresser? It works for me. That was another of Bob's Household Hints -- now you know.

Have a great day, see you tomorrow.

I went out last night! I saw Buffalo Tom at the Mercury Lounge.

Buffalo Tom

My friend Tom is a big fan and hooked me up with a ticket. Tom, Jay, Walter and myself had a great time. I needed a good night out with my dawgz!

Here's a not-so-great photo from the show:

Buffalo Tom live

I caught a lot of flak after the show because I wore ear plugs. I said bring it on, at least I can hear! This was the first time I was able to stand wearing them at a show. I enjoyed it more...the mix was very clean. The show was pretty great...they know what they're doing. OK, that's it -- it's late!

Have a great weekend!

Best,

Bob

I know everybody's worried about global warming (Take it from me, everything's fine) and I know everybody's worried about the budget deficit (Hey, who doesn't owe something to someone?) and I know everybody's worried about North Korea (Trust me, Kim Jong Il is just a little misunderstood)...forget about all that. What I'm worried about and what YOU should be worried about is why 7 Star Pizza has been closed for over a month!

7 Star Pizza
342 Garden St
Hoboken, NJ 07030

My beloved 7 Star, always there to help soak up the booze on the 1 AM walks home. Always there when there was absolutely nothing else to eat. And always there when I just needed a little life advice from one of the guys behind the counter.

They do have signs up that they're renovating and their neon window signs are still glowing but something just doesn't seem right. 7 Star, where are you?! If you know anything - drop me a line. The last time I was this upset, Chicken Galore left Hoboken. I can't go through that again...I just can't.

In other news, it's still crazy humid!

Enjoy your Thursday!

Hugs,

Bob

It's too hot to sleep and almost too hot to blog. Maybe this first topic will get me going...

Hey, I was recognized on the bus last night! But it wasn't 100% because I'm famous (ha ha ha), he remembered me from a commercial audition I did years ago (I didn't get the part). How about that, it truly is a small world. Shoutout to Chris!

OK, still too hot...how about a photo diary? Yeah, let's do that! I took these photos a week ago...my best work in a long time, if I do say so myself.

Bowl of fruit

Tom
(Not so comfortable with the
surprise photo)

Wine cork
(I love this one)

Cell phone
(more of a sign of the times..I wish I knew
when this was taken (Dave's joke)
You can see me in the glasses!)

Walter
(He cut his finger and was showing
me the wound, wait a second, is he
giving me the finger? WALTER!!!)

That's it!

Bonus story from my vacation:

For the first time this season I was able to get my boat in the water:

Seahawk 300

Funny story, I launched her off the dock and all of the sudden, I heard a snake hissing at me! Turns out, I snagged a nail and all the air was rushing out! Not being a strong swimmer, panic ensued but I was able to get back before I went into the drink. It only got the bottom of the boat, so I think I'm cool for the rest of the season, whew!

Time once again for...

Secret Confessions is a new feature to bobborden.com where I tell something about myself that normal people don't usually share. So, here we go...

I was telling a new friend about my weekend and mentioned that my Sunday was a little boring. I said the highlight was going to be buying a hair dryer but then I decided that making that trek would be too boring for words. Intrigued, my friend wanted to know what I use a hair dryer for. I do only have 3 hairs on my head. Letting this information go was a tactical error on my part because, OF COURSE I'm not blow drying my hair...any idiot can see that! So, I had to explain to someone that I'm just trying to get to know that, (big breath), I use a hair dryer to dry off my armpits after I apply roll-on deodorant. So there you go -- Secret Confessions.

I'm going to get this tattooed on my stomach: Single-4-life -- ha ha.

Have a good one!

Bob

Welcome back! I had a great week, rather than a blow-by-blow account, let's break it down this way; friends, family & me.

Friends:

I started my week in the Hamptons, what's that, you've never heard of the Hamptons? Playground to the rich and famous...anyway...I had a great time with my friends "Sally," Walter and Tom. We had a lovely BBQ, ate out a couple of nights and I was able to work on my tan while poolside -- sweet living! I also...

saw a lighthouse

And

caught a shark!

Big thanks to "Sally" & Walter, as usual.

Family:

I took off for Ohio on Monday to spend time with my Mom, Brother, Sister-in-law, nephews (3) and niece. With the nephews/niece, I saw a baseball game, went to swimming lessons and supervised the lighting of some simple fireworks. "Let me light it, let me light it!" I think I might come back on the 5th next year, ha ha!

My Mom, neighbor and I had a lovely dinner...at the local casino. Oh, they have games of chance here? How odd. Ha ha. I left nine hundy up! Very lucky.

I took off from Ohio earlier than normal this time around...everyone thought that was odd but I just wanted to mix it up a bit. I've been back to Ohio EVERY dark week for well over five years. I can't wake up to my Mom watching Regis ever again, ha ha! I would love to sleep in on vacation! Just kidding Mom.

I didn't take any photos in Ohio, so here's a photo of my new favorite t-shirt:

Give me SUMO your Lovin'-- ha ha! And there's a photo of a sumo guy...I love that, get it? Sumo, some of your...Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!! (Sadly, I really do own this shirt.)

Me:

I got back to Hoboken Friday night. I didn't do much, just chilled. I saw Nacho Libre, I thought the same as the critics - not good! I slept in, cleaned the apartment and got reacquainted with my cats. For the first time in a long time, I left them here. My friend Kipley was kind enough to look in on them. Thanks Kipley! It was odd not having them around but the time apart is probably good for us, ha ha. I have no idea what I'm talking about.

OK, that's it!

Best,

Bob
