Great news, the word out of Texas is that Baby Jessica (got stuck in a well in 1987), apparently not a baby anymore, got married in a private ceremony recently. Private to everyone but me...here's a world-exclusive photo that you'll only see on bobborden.com:

Congratulations Jessica!

The second-best headline from yesterday was this: Japanese Scientists Identify Ear Wax Gene

I just did a google search for 'ear wax' for that headline and now I think I'm going to throw up. Gross!

That's it! That baby Jessica photo took about an hour and thirty minutes to finish...if you didn't find it funny, then you have no soul.

Be real!

Best,

Bob

Better weekends than this one? Oh, I've had a few. Ugh...now I have to write about it?!

Friday night I had some dinner and caught I Heart Huckabees...I liked it but didn't love it.

Saturday I can't remember when I woke up but when I turned on the TV, The Road Warrior was on...guess what I was doing for the next 94 minutes? Laziness here, laziness there, I left my apartment around 4:30 to do my laundry. After that, I drove over to Target to buy some items to make my life more livable (whatever the hell that means). The first set of items, bathroom accessories:

[L to R]: Shower caddy, toothbrush holder &
shower-curtain/rings

It's the little things. In my living room, I bought a cheap ($25, on sale) shelf to get all my stuff out of the way...I also bought some wood storage things (they cost more than the shelf).

A place for everything

I've needed something like this for a long time.

Sunday I woke up and it was dark/rainy. I watched CBS Sunday Morning and some things on DVD I wanted to catch up on. I started watching Arrested Development. I get it but I'm not laughing out loud at it. I really wanted to laugh. My inactivity, the weather, my not eating properly (I had a box of Cookie Crisp), this, that and the other, really got me depressed. I didn't leave my apartment (sofa) until 6:45! What an Fing waste of a day!

When I got back, I finally felt better...because I walked around, get it. Yet another of life's lessons!

Sunday night...oh, nevermind, ha ha.

Hey, talk to you tomorrow!

Best,

Bob

I teased my Guiding Light appearance all week long, told my friends about it, my family and even had the info put on our script covers at work. We get to Thursday, I turn on the tube and Guiding Light starts, oh man, this is going to be good! About 10 minutes in, the President gives a speech:

Say it ain't so George!

Well, he went on for the next 45 minutes...the next thing I saw was The Price is Right! CBS did mention that they'll replay GL around 2 AM...that's right, 2 AM! It's 1:27 AM right now, I don't think I'm going to make it. But it did air in Ohio so my Mom saw it...and she's a fan of that show.

Hey, I went out last night!

{L to R]: Bob, Paula
[Insert]: Lee

I had fun..it was nice to be out. Paula split early, so Lee and I went to another bar. Again, fun.

I just hit the wall...I feel like I could fall asleep on my keyboard. I better get while the getting's good.

Be real!

Best,

Bob

No comments yesterday? Not one?!!! I've finally alienated my audience...took long enough, ha ha.

Here's a conversation I had with an intern yesterday (for the the life of me I can't remember her name):

Intern: Hey, I was going through the mail and someone sent you a fan e-mail.

Bob: Male or female?

Intern: Male

Bob: (Visibly disappointed/sad tone) *Sigh* OK, thank you.

Monday night and Tuesday night I fell asleep on my sofa. I've been a little out of sorts this week. I knew I was fading away too...I just turned over and boom, out. What can you do?!

Have you checked your local listings to see when Guiding Light is airing in your neck of the woods today? I'm going to be on today as a Delivery Man wearing a fake mustache. My scene is about 20 minutes in. Great fun...I love the people over there -- they're very nice. They got the word out on my appearance too -- I had blurbs in Soap Opera Weekly and Soap Opera Digest. Amazing. For the last time:

BOB BORDEN, a regular on CBS’s Late Show with Dave Letterman will appear as a delivery man with a special package for Harley - AIRS TODAY!
(Guiding Light)

I made a sweet ipod mix for my walk home last night...check this out:

I Miss You -- Blink-182
Take the Skinheads Bowling -- Camper Van Beethoven
Here Comes My Baby -- Cat Stevens
New Killer Star -- David Bowie
Closest (Look Out) -- Matt Pond PA
Words -- Missing Persons
The Hand That Feeds -- Nine Inch Nails
Regular John (Live) -- Queens Of The Stone Age
There, there -- Radiohead
Trouble -- Ray LaMontagne
Italian Girls -- Rod Stewart
Everything Hits At Once -- Spoon
Living for the City -- Stevie Wonder
I Wanna Be Your Dog (Remastered) -- The Stooges
Room at the Top -- Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
Red Hot (Black and Blue) -- Kix

Ha ha...That last selection was an inside joke that maybe three people will get.

That's all I know. Have a great day!

All my best,

Bob

I didn't receive any e-mails from any single women in the tri-state area. What good is being on TV if the babes don't take notice!? Such is life.

Oh my, I really like my Sirius radio.

My Sirius

I listen to Howard Stern when I can, I wish they'd replay the week on the weekends but they only seem to do replays on weeknights. The music choices are great too, a collection second only to my ipod. It sounds great at home, works great in the car -- I like the freedom that Stern revels in, their use of cursing is wonderful. I'm not making a joke either, there's just something so different than broadcast TV...ha ha...I got home last night and turned on the radio -- how crazy is that?! Well, they don't pay my bills, just trying to tell you about a great product.

Thanks to everyone for your kind words about my Late Show appearance on Monday...very nice of you to say so.

And again, don't forget to check out Guiding Light this Thursday:

BOB BORDEN, a regular on CBS’s Late Show with Dave Letterman will appear as a delivery man with a special package for Harley on Thursday, January 26.
(Guiding Light)

Have a great day. Talk to you tomorrow.

Hey, I was on the Late Show last night!

Bob doing a Pilates exercise

It's always nice to be on TV. To people visiting me for the first time, welcome. And to all the single women in the tri-state area visiting me for the first time, welcome...don't forget to send me an e-mail, ha ha. Very cheap but what the hell do I have to lose, ha ha. BTW, there's a link to your left where you can e-mail me...OK, now that was just desperate!

Health Update: Ugh, I have to get moving on something. I did look into taking a Pilates class in Hoboken but they don't offer 6 AM classes anymore. Now I'm thinking about kick-boxing. I just need to get moving...I need to get this body moving. Moving my friend's stuff this past weekend seemed like good exercise...maybe I should help people move every weekend.

I'm going to stop here for today...But before I go, if you enjoyed me on Late Show...set your Tivo for this:

BOB BORDEN, a regular on CBS’s Late Show with Dave Letterman will appear as a delivery man with a special package for Harley on Thursday, January 26.
(Guiding Light)

I love the Guiding Light!

Have a great day.

Best,

Bob

I'M ON TONIGHT!!! Watch tonight's (1-23-06) Late Show with David Letterman for great guests: Anthony Hopkins, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and BOB BORDEN!!! You read it here first...DO NOT MISS THIS ONE!!
TELL YOUR FRIENDS!

The Bus is rollin' into Detroit! What a sweet game yesterday! Steelers and the Seahawks, should be an exciting Super Bowl. OK, that's it for Bob's Sports Rap, ha ha.

Let's go to the weekend: Saturday I drove out to the Hamptons, that's right, the Hamptons, maybe you've heard of it, playground of the rich and famous? Anyway...(I love making that joke), my goal for this trip was to help my friends Walter and "Sally" move some stuff around. Here's a photo of the stuff we loaded in the Portable On Demand Storage (PODS) unit:

Stuff

The PODS thing was amazing, such a smart idea. All of my smart ideas involve adding candy to another kind of candy, ha ha. Here's what I looked like after carrying a lot of stuff:

Stick a fork in me (I'm done)

But I'm not complaining, I have great friends and I love helping 'em out. We had a lovely dinner that night, we rented Kung Fu Hustle...I think we all watched that half asleep...except for Walter, he was out for a while, ha ha. I hit the road around 7:30/8 AM, hit the local BK (Burger King) and was on my way to NJ (New Jersey) via the LIE (Long Island Expressway).

Back in NJ, I hit the A & P and was in for the rest of the day. I gave my apartment a good cleaning before the game. And that brings us to now...

Let's try this again...check back here at 5/5:30 PM, I'll update you if I'm on Late Show tonight. Keep your fingers crossed.

Have a great day/week.

All my best,

Bob

I talked to my friend Tiffany the other night, she lives in Chicago now. Crazy to say that. I do have to say that her moving from Hoboken to Jersey City a few years back, eased this blow a bit (for me).

[L to R]: Tiffany, Kipley, Karen & Me in '03
(file photo)

Anyway, she made it there safe, loves her new apartment and had just returned from having dinner with her Mom. I have a feeling that the quality of living is better back there than it is here, hence the move. I met Tiff about 10 years ago, she used to be my neighbor. Now I have an excuse to go to Chicago.

In other news, I think there needs to be more hours in the day. I have a lot of DVDs to watch and I haven't been able to find the time. I won't be able to catch up this weekend either. But, that's fine with me...I'm not sure where I was going with that, ha ha.

Big game this Sunday! All the staff and crew at BobBorden.com would like to wish the Steelers well this weekend!

[L to R]: Bob, Ben Roethlisberger
(file photo)

My friend Walter decided yesterday that he doesn't want to risk a 'double or nothing' bet, so I'm going into this weekend $20 up! That's some sweet cash, ha ha.

That's it! Have a great weekend. I should have some good news on Monday about something you were supposed to see this past Monday (on Late Show)...keep your fingers crossed.

All my best,

Bob

You know what you don't see too much of anymore?

Brass Knuckles

The movie 3 O'Clock High is playing in the background and there's a big brass knuckle scene...it just made me think about brass knuckles. They probably went out of fashion because guns are easier to get, ha ha. That's my social commentary for 1/19/06 -- tell your friends.

I got to work yesterday morning and saw this AOL headline, '1970s Teen Idol Arrested.' I said to myself, oh, that's got to be Leif Garrett -- turns out, that's who it was. That reminds me of some dialogue from the great film Repo Man, "Say you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. Suddenly someone says plate, or shrimp, or plate of shrimp. Out of the blue. No use looking for one either. It's part of the lattice of coincidence that lays on top of everything." Very smart.

Remember I told you about going to my friend's wedding a few weeks back? Well, I was looking through the photos last night. I'm making a book of all the photos I took, I came across a photo that's so damn sweet, I challenge you not to cry. Tim met a great gal, it's his second, her first...Tim has two great kids...I took this one of Tim and his daughter, Tatiana...get your Kleenex ready:

[L to R]: Tatiana, Tim

That's a little girl that loves her Dad. I just thought I'd share that with you. There's more to life than the Benjamins.

And on that note -- Have a great day!

All my best,

Bob

To give you a mental picture of what I look like as I write today's diary, just picture this: I had an awful dinner tonight, to make up for it, I just ate something bad, so I feel gross. I'm sitting on my floor by the radiator...It's a little too hot in here, so I'm in my underwear. And finally, I look to my right - there's a cat looking at me for reasons I don't know...I look to my left and there's the other cat, chewing on the power cord to my laptop. And now, today's diary:

Carl (friend/messageboard poster) was right when he guessed that I fell asleep on my sofa before I wrote the old diary yesterday. BTW, happy belated birthday Carl! Anyway, I had my blanket on my sofa because Sunday night, my neighbors woke me up at 2:30 AM, I pounded on the wall, they stopped but things are never the same after that...best to just get up and sleep somewhere else. So, Monday night, after a long day, the sofa/blanket combo did me in.

I wore my new glasses yesterday. I'm happy to report that I like them! Finally, a good pair! A lot of folks said they like them too -- people are so nice sometimes.

I have to give a MAJOR shout out to David Schrader. Who's David Schrader you ask...Well, he's a fan of bobborden.com that happens to work at a publishing house. David Schrader must be a hell of a guy because he sent me a free book!

Chuck Norris' The Justice Riders
(Those are also my new glasses)

How cool is that?! Here's the book description: "From the gold and silver mines of California and Nevada to the wide open plains of Texas, the American West was a wild frontier in the 1870s where dangerous outlaws pursued devilish dreams of fortune. But there were other men of simple faith, unsung Civil War heroes who adventured west to bring justice to places that had none. Those they called "The Justice Riders.""

How cool is that?! Sounds like Chuck figured out a way to kick some ass in the old west, ha ha! Hollywood, make this a movie now! Thanks again David!

That's all I got.

Have a sweet day!

Best,

Bob

Sofa 1, Bob 0 -- update tomorrow.

We out,

Bob

January 16, 2006

DO NOT look for me tonight...I'll let you know when. But it is a great show all the same. Have a good one --

Bob

You only need to know two things about my life today:

#1...

The Steelers won!

What an amazing game...lots of drama at the end, great stuff! Not to mention that I won $20 from my friend Walter! That was a weekend maker!

#2. There's a chance (fingers crossed) that I may be on Late Show tonight. I don't mean to tempt the comedy Gods but I do want to get the word out there. Check back around 5:00/5:30, if the siren's up, that's all good.

Have a great day! CHECK BACK LATER!!!

Best,

Bob

The going-away party for my friend Tiffany was last night.

[L to R]: Bob, Tiffany

The fact that she's leaving didn't hit until right now....wow. I'm going to miss her. Such is life.

To take my mind off of that sadness, here's a typical 'Bob' story you'll enjoy. So, I'm at her party, I have a few beers and sure enough, I have to use the men's room. I walk in this really tiny room and there's a valet in there. I'm not above giving a guy a buck for handing me a towel to dry my hands. What gets me, almost every time, is that there's a guy standing behind me while I'm trying to do my business! If I over-think what needs to happen, I might as well walk out without doing anything. Well, I over-thought it. I gave the guy a buck, excused myself from the party and walked home in pain. Maybe I should file that story under 'pathetic/keep to myself' instead of 'story to share on the internet.' Damn valets -- I should have given him a $5 to wait outside until I was done.

Let's end things on a high note...I got a new t-shirt today:

Free Pimp C!

Who is Pimp C, you ask...Well, he's a rapper that was locked up and now he's out. I saw the story and loved the idea that people made and wore 'Free Pimp C' t-shirts. File it under 'impulse buy.'

Have a great weekend!

Bye Tiff -- I miss ya and you're not even gone yet!

Best,

Bob

Hands up for love y'all! CAN I GET A WITNESS?!

Recent history of my eyeglasses:

Late 2002, I picked up these beauties and never liked them. The stems never felt right on my ears. I wore them for a while and then in late 2003, got a new pair.

The 2003 pair. I wore these for a day. The bridge (part that touches my nose) never felt right. Defeated, I wore the 2002 pair for a couple more years, until...

Late 2005, I picked up these gems. If I tried on one pair, I tried on 30. I like these but I have yet to wear them. I'm just not use to them yet. There's not as much material surrounding the lens, so my eyes are going everywhere exploring new lines of vision.

I had a great pair years ago but I fell asleep on them...Damn. For those of you that don't wear glasses, this is serious business! It's like picking a new face. The jury is still out on my latest pair, I'll keep you updated.

WAKE UP!

Time for a new feature to bobborden.com, I call it, Bob's CONSUMER ALERT!

These Philips Natural Light
light bulbs are amazing!

It's like having the sun in your living room! It's the little things. That was Bob's CONSUMER ALERT! Tell your friends!

Have a swell day.

Word to your mother --

Bob

January 11, 2006

Let's blog. Has it been six months yet? Ha ha. Now I'm thinking that I can balance everything but my diary entries should be somewhat shorter. At this point, I don't think I need to drone on and on about going to the A & P EVERY weekend...don't bore us, get to the chorus! I did miss writing this stupid thing. I'm back...WE'RE back!

I finally saw the film 'Ray' over the weekend. It was on HBO, I saw the ending first and then caught the rest a few hours later. Damn, that's a good flick!

Random photo

Recent purchases:

-- Guns N' Roses' Live Era: '87-'93 -- 'Do you know where the f@#k you are?!' Great stuff -- Come back Axl, come back!

-- Wilco's Kicking Television: Live in Chicago -- Very strong! Thanks to my friend Tom for hooking me up with a copy (sorry Wilco).

-- An episode of Knight Rider (Trust Doesn't Rust) from itunes...Here's the episode description: "K.I.T.T. has met his match when two vandals unlock a car identical to the Knight-2000 in every way but one – this version is programmed for destruction." SWEET!

Health Update: I've been walking to work, weather/mood permitting, since the strike...It's only ten blocks but it's a good ten blocks. I've been watching what I eat and how much I eat. I did stray a little tonight...I had fish for dinner and fish never fills me up. I'm looking into an excercise program that's right for me and trying to schedule it in my life. 2006 is my year for this bulls^#t!

That's it! I hope your year is going well so far. See ya tomorrow.

All my best,

Bob

January 1, 2006

I'm going take a break from BobBorden.com. Wow, that was hard to say. The start of the new year just got me thinking about my life. To put it short, I'm just not happy...I've been talking about losing weight for the past 5 years and have done nothing about it (Talking about it on my diary...thinking about it since high school). Maybe the hour or so it takes me to write this every night could be used to take a longer walk home. You've heard it all before, I know. I fix this and success, in all areas of my life, will follow. So, how long will this break last? I'm thinking six months but I may do a few weekend updates. OK, let's see how this goes...if you're starved for interesting blogging, check out: www.tomyang.net -- he and his family moved to Australia for six months...it's interesting and inspiring reading.

Here's my last real diary for a while:

I had a great break! It was good to be back in Steubenville for Christmas (I was just there 3 weeks ago, ha ha). Remember when I talked about buying my niece a Barbie doll that they no longer make?

[L to R]: Emma, Erika

Emma loved it! I was a proud Uncle on Christmas morning -- it's the little things.

Case in point; Inspired by King Kong and Christmas, my nephew Lucas made me this Christmas card:

Happy Holidays
from Lucas!

Ha ha -- I loved that!

I bought a couple of cool gifts for myself. I swore I wasn't going to get it but when in Best Buy, only the Lord knows what your next emotional purchase will be. I bought a satellite radio:

Bob got Sirius

I bought it to listen to Howard (1/9/06) but I just love it! I listened to great music from Ohio to NJ...I only had to change the FM transmitter once. The FM transmitter is the best I've ever used! I bought the home kit and listened to the Steelers game today -- awesome! Very good purchase.

I also picked up the 30th Anniversary Edition of Bruce Springsteen's Born to Run:

Bruce!

I've only watched the concert from 1975 and it's just fantastic! A must own for any fan or any fan of great music.

The last dumb thing I did in 2005: I had to cancel my New Year's plans with Tiffany due to a possible case of pink eye (I'm fine but didn't want to risk giving pink eye to a bunch of nice people) -- After 8 hours on the road yesterday, I decided that while I'll be alone on New Year's Eve, that doesn't mean I have to be drinkless. I stopped off at the old liquor store to buy a six-pack of Red Stripe (my brother turned me on to it -- it's good). I didn't have any money so I asked the guy, "What's your policy on charging a six pack?" Ha ha...I felt like a degenerate. He says, "No problem, minimum $10" -- I walk to the fridge and there's another guy there to help with the New Year's rush on booze. Guy: "What can I help you with?" Bob: "I found it, I'm just picking up a couple of packs of Red Stripe." Guy: "How about a case, we have one left" Tired from the drive, thinking about the $10 minimum, I say, "Sure, give me a case!"

Damn.

Ask me how a case of beer fits in with changing my life? Exactly. I still haven't had one, ha ha!

The first dumb thing I did in 2006: While typing this diary, I got up to get a drink, tripped over a wire and sent my laptop crashing to the floor! Thankfully, no harm was done. Apple rocks!

OK, that's it for a while. I'm not 100% sure what I'm doing but at least I'm doing something.

All my best,

Bob
