Well, Bo was robbed!

Horse s%#t!

Ha ha, could you imagine if I actually got that excited?! I was “forced” to watch American Idol last night as I only receive 5 channels. It was either that or the Amber Frey film. I guess you can call that a choice. Looking back, canceling my Direct TV may not have been the smartest move, ha ha. I had to laugh as I imagined Amber Frey talking to the producers of her story before the filming of each scene, “OK, but in this scene can you make me look like I'm not such a slut?” Ha ha.

Back to Idol, I watched 5 minutes of American Idol this season and I have to say, that’s five minutes I’ll never get back. I don’t understand why people watch what they watch. I had to flip over to PBS and I have to say, I was pretty entertained. They had some cooking show/reality show thing and that was good. And then they had a show about Cary Grant - that was good too. Shoutout to PBS!

You’re never going to believe what I found in the trash yesterday?!

If this is trash, then I don’t want to
know what trash is
(?)

It’s a Nintendo 64! I was on another floor in the building I work in and there it was. I think it must have been used as a prop, a long, long time ago. It needs a wire and some games but with a little elbow grease and a lot of love, I’ll be on the cutting edge of 1996 technology in no time.

Oh, and yes, I looked in the trash – BIG DEAL! You know what the difference is between me and someone that doesn’t look in the trash? They’re not sitting pretty tonight with a “brand new” Nintendo 64 – Now stick that in your hat and smoke it! Sorry, not sure why I’m so pissed, ha ha.

Well, I think I’ve been going nonstop since early March. I’m well overdue for a break. I’m taking next week off to gather my thoughts and work on my podcasting skills. Speaking of which, there will be a new ‘BobCast’ tomorrow. If I don’t mention it tomorrow, I’ll see you back here on the 6th. Have a good one!

All my best,

Bob

I forgot to mention that on Saturday morning, before I got out of bed, I listened to two Bruce Springsteen albums: Born to Run and Nebraska. I haven't listened to those records in a long, long time. Classics. Those albums just make me want to get in a car and drive.

I have a great daydream going right now. I'd buy a cheap car from California on Ebay, fly out and drive it back. I'd checkout the sites I've never been to like the Grand Canyon and all the other crap between here and there. But the car would have to be as basic as possible. An engine and a transmission, that's it. No radio, no air, just open road. Could I possibly be romanticizing this (?) Who, me?!

Getting back to music, I talked about this before but Springsteen's Nebraska, has to be one of the great album covers:

Takes my breath away

Although, I have to say that I hate driving in Springsteen's New Jersey because in the real world, it's just a f@%king mess…but I do like the open road.

Haven't figured it out by now? That's right, I don't have anything to say today!

So, I’m in my friend Paula’s office yesterday. I get a lot of my advice from her, everything from women to clothes. We’re talking; I look down and see this:

The sock that matches nothing

I said to her, ‘WTF are you wearing?!’ She told me that she’s feeling a little under the weather and put on the first thing she saw but still! If she’s having an off day with her wardrobe, maybe she’s had an off day with her advice to me! I’m 35 and I don’t see any rings on these fingers (I’m looking at my ring finger). I know it seems like I’m picking on her but honestly, she stuck out like a turd in a punchbowl. When I told her I was posting her sock on the internet, I think she said that she hated me, ha ha! I had to point out that I was wearing white socks and I think she doesn’t hate me anymore…Whew! Shoutout to my friend Paula! (Too little, too late?)

Anyway, that’s my diary for Wednesday, May 25, 2005. I can’t wait to be on vacation! Have a good one.

All my best,

Bob

Huge news out of England yesterday:

(Courtesy: The Sun)

I’ll never forget where I was when I heard that one of The Darkness guys left the band, ha ha! He’s the bass player for sh%t’s sake! If Michael Anthony were to leave Van Halen, the first thing you’d say is, “OK, but Eddie's still in the band, right?” Whatever, I hope they figure it out (Really, I could care less).

BobBorden.com was the first place that broke the news of Chris & Colleen Schukei’s new arrival and now, I’m about to flip the script again. For the first time on the internet, take a look at this kid:

L to R:
Campbell Thomas Schukei & Dad

Very nice! I’m hoping this free publicity will mean I don’t have to send a gift, ha ha. Just kidding, sort of. It’s hard to buy for newborns! They’re too young for an x-box game…what else is there?! Again, I’m very happy for them but in the same breath, Chris and I are the same age…it just makes me think: WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING?! But then I calm down and realize that I can barley support myself. OK, I feel better now. (?)

Did you see yesterday’s Late Show? You missed a good one if you didn't. Here’s a view from my window, you’ll never guess who was “riding” these balloons:

Paul Newman!

OK, you can’t tell that Paul Newman is riding these balloons from this vantage point but trust me, he’s in this photo. Good show. You won’t find that photo anywhere else, that’s a bobborden.com exclusive!

That’s it! A little bit of everything today, I love it!

Stay beautiful,

Bob

Friday night I went to see Star Wars. I have to be honest; I wasn’t looking forward to it. I had a ticket for the 9:30 show with my friends: Walter, Jay, “Sally” and Tom. Jay left work at 6:15 to go stand in line. 6:15 for a 9:30 show (!)…I thought he was nuts too. But he’s a big fan and wanted the experience. He also wanted to make sure we had great seats. We got there around 8:30, it was funny, Jay was at the front of the line, we…well, this is where we ended up:

Nerd Wars

We were almost a block away from the theatre and we did have tickets! We never would have found 5 seats together but Jay saved the day. THANKS to Jay for taking one for the group – much appreciated! The Ziegfeld was showing the film in digital projection for that extra touch of big-city class. Without spoiling anything for those of you who haven’t seen it yet, it was pretty darn good. I can’t wait to take my nephews, they saw it on Saturday but part of being a cool uncle is to take them again…and again.

Saturday I woke up around 11:00. I gathered up the old laundry and walked up the street. After that, I walked to main street (Washington Street) to grab some Chinese food. I was going to see Kipley’s screening but I wasn’t in the mood. When I walked out of the Chinese restaurant, it started raining…then it started to pour. I sought shelter under a few awnings but then I just said, screw it. By the time I got home, I looked like this:

Soaked

I was wet from head to toe. But there was something nice about walking through that rain. I enjoyed my dinner and watched Repo Man.

Sunday I woke up around 10:30. I stared to watch Two-Lane Blacktop but then decided to go to Wal-Mart. It started to rain as soon as I left my apartment. Wal-Mart was crazy…so crazy that I didn’t get out of my car. I went to a local “mall” instead. I just walked around, didn’t buy anything. I ended up in Nutley and had a couple of slices. From there I drove to the Jersey City Target. There was nothing there so I went to the A & P. I was home by 6:00. When I walked through my door, I kept singing this song…I must have heard it in the super market. “If only you believe in magic….blah blah blah” I tried to look it up on itunes; no luck. I tried to think who might sing such a song: Steely Dan, Dan Folgerberg, Alan Parssons Project…WHO?! I even called my boss Justin, he’s big into music…I sang it to him and his wife, Lara. They couldn’t figure it out either. I did another internet search on a few of the words and then I cracked the code: IT WAS JEFFERSON STARSHIP SINGING ‘MIRACLES!’ Oh sweet Lord, that was driving me nuts!!!

Who would have thought that Star Wars would be my only “human” contact this weekend.(?) Such is life.

Congratulations to Chris and Colleen!!! I’ll post a photo of the new kid as soon as I get one. Great news.

That’s it! Have a great day.

Best,

Bob

This 'bobcast' is no more but there's a new one every Friday.

May 19, 2005

How do I start today’s diary? How do I start today’s diary? How do I start today’s diary? How do I start today’s diary? How do I start today’s diary? I had a great creative writing class in high school, the teacher encouraged us to keep a daily journal (diary). But back then; keeping such a “journal” was so painful. She was cool, knew that and just told us to write, “I don’t know what to write” over and over – the point was to just get in the habit of writing. And after writing “I don’t know what to write” over and over again for a few paragraphs, eventually you thought of something – it worked today, ha ha. Shoutout to Ms. DeMayo! (I may have talked about that before but it's probably new to you -- so be it)

I’ve heard from a few people this week that I went to high school with (due to my Monday appearance on Late Show). I have to say; I don’t remember a lot of them. They were either not in my class or friends of friends. But I tried to answer everyone the best I could. My responses usually started with, “I can’t remember you to save my life but…” Ha ha – Honest to a fault, that’s me! I guess my point is, it sure is crazy this modern world we live in. TV, internet and so on…just crazy.

You know what I did last night? I had drinks with………(wait for it)……….(wait for it)……a woman!

L to R: Laura, Bob

It was a nice little mid-week break, to sit there with someone cool and enjoy a bottle of wine. We had a great conversation and then parted ways around 11:00. I may have had just a touch too much wine for a school night but what the hell! Listening to Radiohead on the walk home, on a crisp Spring night with a little wine in you…damn, that was a good feeling.

Finally today; eh, I got nothing else. Are you psyched for Friday’s BobCast?!

Questionable song that just came up on my ipod: Jim Nabors’ The Impossible Dream (The Quest). Hmmmmmmm? OH! Ha ha…I let my friend Walter borrow my ipod yesterday…nice!

That’s it! Have a great one.

Goodnight Evelyn

My Best,

Bob

Thank you for all of your nice comments -- Very nice of everybody! I was so tired after Monday; I ended up falling asleep on my sofa. I woke up at 5:30 AM and was out of it, ha ha. But you can’t be on TV forever and life does go on.

And that brings me to this thought: I have nothing to say today, nothing!

I finished watching The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. It was OK but seemed soulless. I’d say it’s my least-favorite Wes Anderson film. However, I did enjoy the songs…especially by Brazilian recording artist, Seu Jorge. He did some cool acoustic versions of David Bowie songs.

Seu Jorge

My friend Jay made me a CD from the DVD (their was a bonus of Seu Jorge playing 10 bowie songs on the 2-dvd set). I would have done it but the DVD I bought wasn’t the 2-disc edition. Target screwed me! They were only selling a one-disc version and it was almost the same price! I’m so taking it back this weekend. They dumbed it down for a Target crowd. Anyway, big thanks to Jay! You haven’t lived until you’ve heard Rebel Rebel sung in Portuguese, ha ha!

That’s it! Have a great day!

All my best,

Bob

Hey, I was on TV last night! I have to say, I like being on TV, ha ha. I wish there was a way I could be on TV without doing a regular job…I was under the gun before show time and was worried I wouldn’t be able to calm down. But thankfully, I got it together and wasn’t nervous/sweaty when I went out to talk to Dave.

I hope you enjoyed the piece; I had a lot of fun doing it…I’m lucky enough to work with great people that make shooting these things great fun.

And if anyone from Guiding Light is checking out my site today: Thank You!

I had such a great time on their set – everyone was so great to me. I got to work with the very cool:

Beth Ehlers and Ricky Paull Goldin

How about that?! They were so great! (I’ll get my thank you notes in the mail this week.) And my part really will air in June (6/7/05)! I’ll remind you then, of course.

When I left the set and walked backstage, freaking R2-D2 almost ran me over! Ha ha.

I’ll let you in on a little secret…I knew I was going to be on TV this month. My numerologist, Cheryl Lee Terry, gave me the good word in April…check this out:

Bob’s numerologist says…

The numbers don’t lie, ha ha.

I’m SO tired; I had a long, great day.

Bonus story from Bob’s weekend that wasn’t in yesterday’s diary:

I’m at a local Hess station filling up the old tank ($2.11 a gallon). In New Jersey, you can’t fill your own tank; the guy has to do it. So the guy starts filling my tank and walks away to help someone else. I get out to wash my windows and notice that the gas is going in super slow. At about 6 gallons, the tank stops. I was on “E” and I have a 12-gallon tank. I wanted to touch the pump to keep it going but again, you can’t touch the pump here. The guy comes over and I say, “It shut off early, I only have half a tank.” The guy says, “I don’t know” and hands me my receipt. Ha ha…that was it: end of transaction. I said to myself, ‘hey, maybe I don’t really need a full tank.’ And off I went.

Anyway, that was the bonus story.

And that’s it! Have a great day!

All my best,

Bob

I'M ON TONIGHT!!! Watch tonight's Late Show with David Letterman for great guests (Ray Romano, Dave Matthews Band) and BOB BORDEN!!! You read it here first...TELL YOUR FRIENDS!

Thursday night I put up my first Podcast (AKA: BobCast)! I called up Walter around 9:30 that night and asked him what were the odds of putting one up tonight? He said, “You make it and I’ll figure it out.” I love it…it went up without a hitch. People seem to enjoy it; I enjoyed screwing around like that, so I’ll do it every Friday (until it gets old).

On my way to work Friday morning I saw this on the back of a bus seat:

Bus graffiti: “We’re just victims of
public transportation prison”

Wow. That guy must have REALLY been depressed to take the time to write that, ha ha. What a downer!

After work, I headed back to Hoboken, picked up some food and watched one of my favorite films, Easy Rider. I see something new in that film every time I watch it – it’s a beautiful, beautiful film.

Saturday I woke up around 10:30. Excited by my podcast, I decided to experiment with the audio, get the levels right, make an opening, etc. It’s like a new hobby! Fun. I worked on it a little too long. I thought weather wise, it was a bad day but then I realized I didn’t open up my curtains, ha ha. It was the nicest day of the year!

I played x-box Live with my nephews for a little bit, that’s always fun. Around 6:00, I got a shower because I was meeting Tiffany for dinner before Kipley’s 8:00 screening (See Hoboken Digital link to the left). We had Indian food, mmmmmm. I had crawfish ‘something,’ it was lovely. Tiffany and I have a good time when we’re together…she’s good people. We headed over to the bookstore, the movie of the night was, Delayed Reaction by Israeli Filmmaker, Samuel Calderon and Mr. Calderon was there to talk about his work. Very interesting evening. I bought his film afterwards, it was only $10, I figure I’ll let someone else check it out. Kipley’s a smart guy to pull all these things together. Kipley told me that there were two people there that heard about his event through my website. How about that!? The power of Bob, ha ha. I wish they would have introduced themselves to me…I could have taken their photo for this site. Oh well.

I got back around 10:30 and put in The Terminator. From one film extreme to another, ha ha.

Sunday I woke up around 10:00 and had laundry to deal with. I headed over to Jersey City and the Laundry Depot was CRAZY! I said to myself, ‘F this.’ I hit the A & P instead. I unloaded my stuff at home and decided to do my laundry up the street. On my way, I asked Sal (mechanic) if he’d hook me up with an oil change. I did my laundry while he was taking care of my ride – I believe they call that multitasking.

After laundry, I headed back over to Jersey City to go to Target. I wanted to buy ‘The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.’ I’m a big Wes Anderson/Bill Murray fan. I got that and then decided to get a haircut. Supercuts, here I come, ha ha. Rather than get a buzz job that they seem to favor, I got a scissor cut. I just needed to make things a little neater. This summer, I plan on doing the buzz cut again…I just like the simplicity of it.

I went home after that, cooked up some dinner and started watching ‘The Life Aquatic’ – I’m halfway through it as I write this and I’m not so sure I love this one. But the jury is still out. I cleaned my apartment, watched The Simpsons, I’ll finish that movie after I post this and that should about do it for another grand weekend.

Now, about my special announcement that I told you about in my BobCast…I don’t want to tempt the comedy Gods more than I already have but if anything happens today, you can check back here at 5:30/6:00 for details. But either way, a great Late Show is on tap with Ray Romano and Dave Matthews Band.

That’s it! Have a great Monday.

All my best,

Bob

May 13, 2005

MY FIRST PODCAST IS OFF MY SERVER DUE TO SPACE: CHECK BACK FOR A NEW ONE EVERY FRIDAY!

Or should I say, ‘BobCast,’ Ha ha! This is so sweet! I plan on doing this every Friday (I won’t keep an archive of these due to their size – so download it while you can!).

Thanks a lot to Walter (as always) – And to Kipley and Rick for their support.

ENJOY! Have a great weekend.

Best,

Bob

I got off the bus yesterday, saw a guy walking towards me wearing a Ben Rothlisberger (Pittsburgh Steelers) jersey and, without thinking, ha ha…I pointed to him and said, “Hey, Big Ben.” HA HA! I didn’t even stop to see if he answered me (I was listening to music). At that moment, I remembered something that my friend Paula always says to me, “You are an idiot.”

Then, I get home, opened up my mail and had to deal with this:

Bob’s mail

It’s a brochure for a mausoleum! Why am I on the list for this piece of direct advertising?! I’m only 35! I haven’t even bought a place to live in yet! Bastards!

I just spent the last few minutes listening to Tag Team’s 1993 hit, Whoomp! (There It Is). That’s four minutes, twenty-nine seconds I’ll never get back. But I don’t blame it on my ipod…I blame myself for putting it on my ipod. You know how people really love their ipods? Well, I can honestly say that I’m IN love with my ipod. It is the best piece of technology I’ve ever owned and people, I even owned a Coleco Vision!

The future is now (1982)

I’m not sure where I was going with that topic – I just like stuff that is designed well and works.

This Podcasting thing I talked about yesterday could really be fun. I thought about it some more, the things I could do and so on. I think it could take bobborden.com to the next level. The ‘next level’ is attracting more than 3 readers everyday, ha ha! Developing.

You remember the group Alice in Chains? I’m listening to their stuff again. When it’s good, it’s very good. Very moody/heavy. Drugs suck.

That’s all I got! Have a great day.

All my best,

Bob

May 11, 2005

I had a good morning yesterday -- I got a lot done. I was on the fence about voting yesterday but there were people “blocking” both sides of the sidewalk. So, for better or worse, I let my vote work its magic. At the local level, I have no clue about party lines or for that matter, the issues, ha ha. But I felt somewhat Ok with my choice. I went to work after that & headed over to the post office to mail my Steelers ticket request form. A mailbox wouldn’t do, I had to get this letter into the system, stat! From there, I did a little banking, picked up some food and headed back to work with 30 minutes until my day began. It was sweet! If I could have squeezed a haircut in there, well, that would have been one for the books.

Have you ever heard of Podcasting? In the world of blogging, it’s the new HIP thing to do. It’s basically a very short “radio” show that you can make yourself and people can download it to their ipods or computers. I’ve been thinking about adding something like that to this website. It’s something I think I would enjoy doing. I’m looking into it as I write this.

Time for a new feature to bobborden.com, I call it: Bob’s Fans Ask For It, They Get It! Mary Higgins from Bismarck, North Dakota writes, “Bob, I love your site and your appearances on the Late Show. In your last comedy segment (Poconos/Valentine’s Day) you were seated at a giant chair…do you have any photos of that chair? My husband and I just built a giant dining room table but we forgot about the chairs, can you imagine? Thanks Bob, keep up the great work.”

No, thank you Mary Higgins from Bismarck, North Dakota…OK, you asked for it, you got it:

Bob in a big chair

That’s how we play Bob’s Fans Ask For It, They Get It!…tell your friends!

I got home last night and watched Frontline on PBS…the topic was a prison in Ohio and how the mentally ill are treated better in there than in the real world. It was pretty graphic. I like watching stuff like that, it’s interesting…Yeah, interesting, I hardly ever think about Direct TV anymore. I don’t miss it at all…

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Ha ha, oh the jokes. That’s it! Have a great day!

All my best,

Bob

I call this the diary that almost didn't happen. I was having space issues but all is well now.

So what do we think...Are these headphones too big?

Cast your vote!

Speaking of voting, the Hoboken Mayoral election is today. I'm not sure I want my vote to be heard on this one. I have a theory about New Jersey politicians; they're all on the take, ha ha. Not much of a theory around these parts as our last mayor had his hand out for years. If I have the time, I may vote for the current Mayor. He seems like a nice guy and he had those speed bump strips put in to slow the cars down. As a driver, I hate them but as a pedestrian, I love them.

On to more important news: I received my 2005 Individual Game Ticket Request Form from the Steelers' front office yesterday! There's no guarantee that I'll get tickets but at least I'm in the game! I called my friend Tim in Ohio as soon as I got it. He was pissed because he didn't receive his yet - he's 45 miles away, I'm 400 miles away, ha ha. It was too funny. Anyway, I hope I get to go again this year, that'd be cool. Shoutout to Big Ben:

L to R: Bob, Ben Roethlisberger

I think I need to go wardrobe shopping this weekend. I'm in a clothes rut. I know from my laundry that I pretty much wear the same shirts every week.

Bob's shirts

Thank the Lord for plaid, ha ha! Maybe I'll "MIX IT UP" with some solid colors, ha ha.

That's it! Have a great Tuesday!

Word up,

Bob

Just as I was leaving work Friday night, a fire broke out across the street!

Fire!

Here are the details…um, ahhhh, hmmm…OK, I left as soon as I saw the smoke. I don’t know how this one turned out. Roy Rogers and TGI Friday’s were there about a week ago and then one day, poof, they were gone. They were gutting the place all day; I’m guessing a gas line broke or a grease fire (the smart money is on grease).

I made plans to hang out (Friday night) but the plans got screwed up and I bailed. Looking back, I should have rolled with it but what can you do – I am who I am. I kicked it inside and started to re-watch The Office (BBC). So wonderful!

Saturday I woke up at 5 AM, damn, I fell asleep on my sofa! I waited too long to go to the local laundry, so I headed over to the Jersey City A & P and the Laundry Depot -- nothing new to report there. I did go to Target to buy some new headphones. While I was standing in line, I saw a mouse/rat scurry across the floor…nice. It wasn’t a fluke either, that mouse/rat knew what the hell he/she was doing. I was happy I wasn’t making a food purchase.

I was going to go to my friend Kipley’s movie thing around 8:00 because he was showing an interesting documentary but I couldn’t get it together. So, I watched Shaun of the Dead instead. Damn, that’s a good one! Those Brits are pretty funny/smart. Speaking of Brits, I talked to my friend Carl for a while. He’s in the UK and I enjoy hearing about his way of life. Nice bloke.

Sunday I woke up around 6 AM…on the sofa, again – DAMN! Another night of cheated sleep. I called my brother George to see if the nephews were up for a little x-box live. He told me that they were outside playing. Ohio was beautiful yesterday. I should have taken a page from their book but NJ was dark and cool. My apartment was especially cold this weekend. I decided I needed to go on an adventure.

My idea of an adventure these days is to drive two towns over to buy some Rogaine.

Yikes!

I’ve been thinking about using Rogaine to keep my bald spot in check before it gets any worse. Sunday afternoon and I’m taking photos of my bald spot! Oh sweet Lord, no one told me it was going to be like this! I’m still on the fence. Honestly, with everything else wrong with me, Rogaine, would be like polishing a turd at this point, ha ha! But I digress.

I stayed in most of the day watching Spanish TV. Why Spanish TV? BECAUSE I ONLY HAVE 10 CHANNELS NOW!!! Ha ha, I’m not cracking yet but I would have liked a little variety on a Sunday afternoon. Around 5, the sun came out. I got in the shower and headed outside. Where you ask; but to Staples to buy a shredder. I walked in and I heard a worker say to another worker: “It’s six o’clock, close that door, it’s closing time!” I got my shredder and was out of there pretty quick. When I walked out, they were turning people away…must be nice, to refuse business like that – I don’t know how anyone stays in business around here. Anyway, checkout this sweet shredder:

Shred it up!

I’ve needed one of these things for so long. I haven’t thrown out anything personal in months and months. I filled up the whole basket in about 30 minutes and I still have a long way to go. Shredding is fun but it sounds like there’s a jet in my apartment, ha ha. I had to spend $50 to shred paper I didn’t want, so someone I don’t know, won’t steal my identity. Crazy world.

That’s all I got today. I’m surprised I had this much in me; I didn’t do a damn thing, ha ha.

Much love,

Bob

May 6, 2005

I had an incredible day yesterday! I can’t talk about it as of this moment. But you’ll be able to see what I did on the Late Show later this month…stay tuned; you’ll hear it here first!!! Due to the busy day, sorry to say, today’s diary is on the short side, again.

On my walk home, Guns ‘n’ Roses’ November Rain came on the old ipod – Holy crap, is that a great song or what?! There’s like five Slash solos in that tune…5! The last time I heard that song…well, it was actually last November, nevermind.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY (this Sunday)! I was able to send Mom something this year and she may get it today. But I forgot to send a note/card – always something! Anyway, have a good one Mom – Go to dinner with George and everybody!

Checkout this cool photo I took on the bus yesterday:

Cool photo

Well, I like it anyway. I’m very tired and need to get to bed. Have a great weekend!

All my best,

Bob

May 5, 2005

Short and sweet today.

I open today’s diary with a brand new feature. I call it, Can You Guess What Year This Photo Was Taken?

Can You Guess What Year
This Photo Was Taken?

If you guessed, 1988, you’re right! Ha ha. My only comment for this photo is that I think it needs more smoke. Who the hell did I think I was, Madonna?! “Just relax…make believe you’re at home, in a suit, leaning against your giant ‘88,’” ha ha!

I had a nice bus ride into work yesterday. I got on the bus and at the next stop, there was my friend Lauren. I tried to get my camera out but her line was moving. She got on, didn’t see me and sat right next to me. I was listening to my headphones; she knows me and had the sense to say, “I won’t bother you, you can listen to your music.” I thought that was very nice of her, so I took her up on her offer.

But then I started feeling bad after a stop or two and we ended up talking most of the way in. ‘Talking,’ wasn’t so bad. She's good people.

Man, Wednesday went by in a flash, interesting. Some, call it hump day.

OK, I’ve got nothing else today. I have a big day today and I need to get some sleep.

One love –

Bob

My ‘comments’ section was H-O-T yesterday! 25 postings as of this writing and nothing offended me – thank you. We’re finally going to stick it to those Madison Avenue Fat Cats when we take it to the streets! (?)

I don’t have a lot to say today, I’ve been focusing my attention elsewhere this week. As I write today’s diary, a live Ozzy song just came on my ipod and Ozzy asked the screaming crowd, “Are you ready to Rock ‘N’ Roll?!” What kind of question is that? Of course they’re ready to rock ‘n’ roll…they bought the albums, got tickets, left work early to go see Ozzy! Honestly, if it were still 1981, I think I might have complained. “The show was great but Ozzy kept asking rhetorical questions all night.” (This paragraph was almost something, oh well.)

Crap, Mother’s Day is coming up! I have to get something in the mail ASAP. I’m hoping my mom reads this and gives me the old, ‘I don’t need anything as long as you’re happy’ routine. That’d be cool…I can fake being happy, ha ha. MOM – I’m sorry if the lottery tickets don’t get there in time. (Now we’re picking up steam, can you feel it?!)

Time for a new feature to bobborden.com today, I call it Bob’s Random Scan. I’ll put a bunch of random items on my scanner and you can have hours of fun figuring out what everything is…ready….GO!

Random Scan

I don’t know...that was kind of pointless, right? And that was Bob’s Random Scan! Tell your friends.

Hey, I got home last night, picked up the phone and I talked to, drum roll please, a woman. How’s that for exciting?! Just a friend thing but it’s always nice to meet good people. You know what I’m saying?

So that’s it for today – I pulled another one out of my ass, ha ha! (Sorry about that.)

“You’re beautiful!”

All my best,

Bob

As I write today’s diary (Monday night) it’s a chilly 45 degrees outside. My window is open and a sweat shirt/sweat pants are the perfect wardrobe for such an evening. My point? I don’t have one; it’s just a nice feeling.

I had a bad-eating day yesterday. Stress and convenience led to poor lunch and dinner choices. But I stopped myself both times and only ate half of what was on my plate. Now, for the record, I’m writing about it because it was part of my day. And I feel I’m being honest by doing so – But what really does not help me are negative comments left on my message board. Honestly, if you can’t say anything nice or positive, go somewhere else – it’s just wasted energy, you know? I don’t want to get rid of the ‘comments’ but I will if I keep reading crap from people that don’t really know me. And no one thought my photo by the radiator was funny?! What’s up!? Moving on.

I lost the foam bit to my headphones the other day.

Sans foam

I feel naked without my headphones. I kept wearing them without the foam but it’s not so comfortable. I guess it’s on there for a reason. I tried those ear bud things but they hurt my ears. Not from the volume but from the contact. I can’t believe I’m even writing about such trivia. It’s all so pointless compared to all the problems in the world. But, in the same breath, good headphones can make or break your day, ha ha.

I love having a clean apartment. I cleaned the heck out of it on Sunday and damn, if it wasn’t nice to come home on Monday night. It wasn’t crazy messy but everything just seemed a little out of sorts. A place for everything and blah blah blah.

I loved that runaway bride story this past weekend. She really DID NOT want to get married, ha ha. I just saw a story where the groom still wants to marry her, ha ha!. Give it up brother! She’d rather go to jail than marry you. We’re (men) very dumb when it comes to matters of the heart. Yet another Hoax – remember when the news media used to investigate things? Now it’s all about how your kid’s cafeteria food is too cold or too hot. When I was a kid, we ate our bacteria and no one gave a damn. (I don't have a point here either)

That’s it!

Stay beautiful,

Bob

Friday night I got back to Hoboken and didn’t feel like doing what I always do (Mexican food/sofa). I called up my friend Laura to see if she had any plans. She had plans to have dinner with friends on the other side of town and invited me to join her. A chance for me to be social! But, getting to the other side of Hoboken, after a very busy day wasn’t what I had in mind. I politely passed, picked up some Chinese food and was on my sofa before I could say, ‘you blew it!’ By the time I got home, it was 9:00…the same time Laura and her friends were to break bread on the other side of town – such is life.

This was my first Direct-TV free weekend in years. I have to say; I did pretty well. Granted, I did have some King of the Hill episodes on Tivo to get me through the dark times but overall, I didn’t miss it at all.

Bob going through DTW
(Direct TV withdrawal)

Saturday I woke up around 11, it was a dark, rainy day – very depressing. I surfed the internet, played some games and then decided to do my laundry. I decided to walk up the street, instead of driving to Jersey City or Nutley…I just didn’t feel like following my normal routine. But I have to say, laundry, is laundry, is laundry.

I finished and was back at my apartment in time to make some evening plans. I decided to see a movie. My friend Kipley (See Actorslife.com link to your left) screens independent flicks on Washington Street. The film this week was a little too independent for my taste. I wanted to walk out but it was pouring outside…so I stayed.

I returned home around 10 PM and watched At Close Range, with Sean Penn…that’s a good one. Christopher Walken was on his game as well.

Sunday I woke up around 11:00 and decided to wash my dishes. That led to a major spring-cleaning. I didn’t finish up until 3:45. Then, I took a shower and headed up to the Hoboken Arts & Music Festival. I’m not one for a festival crowd. But Herman's Hermits starring Peter Noone was playing and I figured, when will I ever be able to see that again?

Herman's Hermits starring Peter Noone

Their songs were extremely short but the crowd seemed to enjoy it. I got my camera out as a song started, took a photo, put my camera in the case, put it in my pocket and the song was over, ha ha. Herman's Hermits starring Peter Noone are laughing all the way to the bank.

I walked to the Hoboken A & P after that. The Jersey City A & P still has my heart but I will say that the Hoboken deli guy was very helpful when I asked him where the rotisserie chickens were.

I walked back to my apartment, enjoyed my dinner and hooked up the rabbit ears to my TV. The Simpsons had an hour-long episode – I’M ONLY MADE OF FLESH AND BONE!!! (Turns out, it was two half-hour episodes -- FOX!)

So, this was my first weekend without: Direct TV, driving my car and the first weekend in a LONG TIME where I didn’t leave Hoboken. When I was walking home I thought about getting rid of my car but I don’t want to do that. Financially, if I rented instead of owning, it’d equal the same. Provided my car never breaks down, ha ha.

That’s it! Have a great Monday.

All my best,

Bob
