A week in the life of my eye:
Monday 6 AM: I woke up to a bulging eyelid. My first thought; oh crap, I got the pink eye. I call work and say I can't come in do to this contagious affliction.
9 AM, I start to work the phone: I called five eye doctors before I could find anybody who could take me. I finally got an appointment at 3:45 PM in Jersey City (not my first choice). I learn I may have a sty or my eyelid may be infected. Medicine is prescribed and I'm told if the eyelid changes color, come back because the infection could spread to my brain...not good.
Tuesday 6 AM: I wake up and my eye looks and feels worse. I call work again and then call the doctor's office. My appointment (with another Doctor) is in the afternoon. He looks at my eye and tells me it's not infected. I just have to let the medication work. I feel like an idiot and I rush in to work.
Wednesday my eye was feeling a lot better.
Thursday I had a scheduled follow-up appointment (with yet another Doctor). He told me it isn't a sty and it isn't infected. It's bruised. As soon as he said that, I remembered having a "dream" of hitting my eye on my dresser. It mush have happened in the middle of the night or in the morning when I was turning off my alarm.
Thursday night I'm sitting with the writing staff and a bunch of other staffers. This is when, for reasons I still don't understand, I told everybody my missed days of work was due to my hitting my eyelid on my dresser. It was a feeding frenzy after that.
So, long story short; don't keep your dresser next to your bed.
Best,
Bob
