Sorry for the non-updates this week. Here's a couple of observations from Thursday:
I was walking out of work tonight and I happened to see a tow truck towing a U-Haul van. I didn't think anything of it because cars get towed all the time in the big city. I made my usual trip to the Port Authority. I got on my bus and just as we were entering the Lincoln Tunnel, I looked over and the very same tow truck was right next to me. What's the point to this story? I have no idea. Oh, how about this...
While I was waiting for the bus, I couldn't help overhearing a conversation behind me. It went something like this:
Girl #1: "I like your hat."
Girl #2: "I was shopping for hats with "Jennifer." We both found hats we liked, paid for them and we were on our way. Later Jennifer said she really liked her hat and wondered how much it cost. She pulled out her receipt and it was $25. I thought, oh, that's a good price, I wonder how much mine cost...I was busy and didn't check when I bought it. So, I look at the receipt and it cost $390."
Girl #1: "Oh my God."
Girl #2: "I went back to the store to see how I could have made such a mistake. All the other hats were $25. This one was thrown in with the cheaper hats. So, every day last winter and this winter, I wore the hat everyday. It doesn't go with anything but I have to wear it."
Is there any point to that story? Not really, I could say something snide like, always wear your headphones while waiting for the bus. But, I have to say I enjoyed it. The girl accidentally purchased a $390 hat! The sad part of this story is when I was able to look at the girls, I couldn't see the hat! I really wanted to see what a $390 hat looks like. Such is life.
Best,
Bob
