A couple of weeks ago my friends Walter, Tom and myself were trying to buy Guns N' Roses tickets. You'll remember that we were shut out pretty quick (tix sold out in 3 minutes, for 4 shows). Fast forward to last weekend, the concerts begin. I come to work on Monday and ask Tom how his weekend went and I have to say, he was a little quiet. Turns out, he saw GNR Sunday night! I wanted to say all for one, one for all but a friend got him in and there was only one ticket. He was so close to screwing us over but that wasn't the case (but it would have been SO funny if it were true). Fast forward to Wednesday night, the last GNR concert. After hearing how great they're playing, Walter decided he HAD to go.
He was talking me into going all day -- at one point, even offering to buy my ticket! I finally said I'd go but I'd pay the $125. After e-mailing people for hours, he got tickets...except, the guy is in Queens. He'd have to take a train 25 minutes away and give a guy $250. I said to Walter, you make that trip, you're probably not coming back! He didn't care, there was no talking to him, he's going to see GNR come hell or high water! The Queens guy backed out and that's when I came to reason and said I was out...I can't spend $125 on anything right now.
Walter was able to find a solo ticket for $100 at 8PM. I was so happy that he got to go...I've never seen anyone work SO HARD to get tickets, ha ha. Walter called my phone machine from the concert, check it out:

Walter LOVED it. Izzy came on and played 3 songs...Think About You, Patience, Nighttrain...Sebastian Bach did My Michelle and Kid Rock came on to sing Nightrain. So there you go.
So, I'm at my desk working yesterday when my boss Eric yells for me to come in his office. It was one of those yells where you know that something has gone wrong. I run in there and he holds up a container of Assorted Nuts.

Eric holding his nuts
(Well, there's no good way to say that!)
His Assorted Nuts are all almonds! How crazy is that?! Needless to say, I was on the phone for the rest of the day...heads rolled! Help Me Howard (Local news consumer guy) should be coming over today.
There's an interesting trend in my life right now where people are giving me things. On Monday, the Mark G t-shirt/book, my friend J9 is introducing me to a friend of hers (more of nice gesture than a thing, btw, it already fell through, ha ha) and then yesterday, my boss Justin came in to work and gave me a 4-pound container of licorice!

Free Red Vines!
(thanks Justin!)
One pound gone, 3 to go! Just kidding. I hope this trend keeps on keeping on.
Time to revisit an old feature I call: Bob Tastes New Products (so you don't have to). Today's Product, Coca-Cola Blak. Blak is a cross between Coke and coffee. And I think it's fair to say that it's somewhat pricey. Before I start the test, it should be noted that I'm not a coffee drinker. Here we go...

The results are in!
(Why does this seem like
a Maury show?)
Coca-Cola Blak, how about Coca-Cola Bleeckh!? Can I get a witness?! Recommendation: Just grab a cup of coffee and stop trying to be so fancy all the time! You damn yuppies...would it KILL you to get out of your SUV for five minutes, grab a cup of joe at the local diner and talk to your fellow man...like a HUMAN Fing BEING?! Hmmmmm, anyway...that was Bob Tastes New Products (so you don't have to) -- tell your friends.
Last today, I hope you caught Late Show last night, Eagles of Death Metal played on 53rd & Broadway.

Cool
That's it! Have a great weekend.
Best,
Bob
